E aí tinha aqueles trotes educativos típicos de firma industrial. Ontem eu tava contando alguns pra @fecampagnucci.com. O mais comum era pedirem para o novato ir ao departamento de fotomecânica para buscar de "retícula em pó". Os ramais internos combinavam que sempre precisava ir a outro lugar.

losing my mind over matplotlib displaying a figure as expected when interactive but **only** retaining the colorbar (cutting out the actual map!) when I use savefig.
this script worked on one computer but not the other. same matplotlib version. I just love programming some days. 🙃

Dangerous heat is headed for the Southwest and northern Mexico this week with temperatures up to 18°F above normal in some areas. Climate Shift Index levels of 5 indicate that human-caused climate change made this heat at least 5x more likely.

Yes, I realize that my usual temperature anomaly scale is less than ideal for visualization purposes in this image here. But that's also because the #Arctic was absurdly warm compared to the 1981-2010 climatological average in October 2024.

Evolution of daily sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies over the past 2 weeks from NOAA's OISST dataset. The colorbar shows the % of pixels in each 0.5°C bin. Edge bins contain all values below -3°C (darkest blue) or above +3°C (darkest red).
