The cervical punch biopsy and colposcopy was easily the worst pain I’ve felt in my entire life.
Today's colposcopy day, and if yall men don't know what a colposcopy is, it's a cervical tissue biopsy. They cut out chunks of cervix without anesthetic, local or general. Just "take some ibuprofen" and, oh! I get a nurse to hold my hand and tell me how good I'm doing.

This is when it gets crazy. Multiple independent pathologists reviewed her Pap tests in court. They unanimously concluded that for nearly two years, the tests had not been normal, but in fact, quite abnormal. While they didn't confirm cancer, they were very concerning and warranted a colposcopy.

My mom saw a different doctor outside the FHP network and was again given a Pap test. But this time, the results were very different. They were highly abnormal, indicating possible cancer. The doctor immediately had her undergo a colposcopy, which confirmed a diagnosis of cervical cancer.

Also very cool: a study from 2024 found that in Scottish women fully vaccinated with the HPV vaccine in 2008, *no* cases of cervical cancer have been found. Not a single one. 100% success rate.

Just had a colposcopy & coughing makes it not hurt! Wonderful dr said when I count down from 3, cough. Literally felt nothing. 🤯

I don’t have good news at the moment. I’ll be having a colposcopy next month, had a pelvic ultrasound yesterday. Exam tests abnormal. But I am going to stay grounded and hope that this is just some kind of treatable infection or something for now.

I’ve had a colposcopy as well as having an IUD inserted 3x times with no sedation or pain control. All were incredibly painful, and I’ve given birth 3x, too.
It’s inhumane that women’s health often treats pain management as an afterthought or believes our reproductive organs have no nerve endings.

(And no, fellas, a colposcopy IS NOT a colonoscopy. The former is something only women have to endure and you’re wide awake and feel every painful moment. The latter is something men also have to endure so of course they put you to sleep or sedate you.)
