As of today, all current NOAA Climate and Global Change postdoctoral fellows have been furloughed due to the Dept of Commerce not releasing the funding for the program. In addition no new Fellows were awarded this year. cpaess.ucar.edu/cgc

A report from the International Chamber of Commerce has found that extreme weather related to climate change has cost the global economy more than $2 trillion over the last 10 years.

The US suffered the biggest losses, around $935 billion.

J. Oliver mentioned that the Dept. of Commerce is on the list for elimination. I wonder if this will include the US Patent Office.

NOAA is on the list for elimination because they do not want Americans to see weather/climate trends.
