A Pig’s Quest. Hell’s bells, this is *good*. #C64 #commodoreformat

#CommodoreFormat were a little less brutal, but dear departed Mr Dyer gave the game a bit of a hammering too. Personally, I think the main sprite is just fine - graphically and spooed-wise, the game is aces high. It is just so horrendously difficult due to the Grem spawns.

#CommodoreFormat also didn't think the game was much cop. Cat. I mean. And rightly so.

Oooooooooooh, what's this - more work in Excel that has nothing to do with any work whatsoever..? YES! #C64 #CommodoreFormat

Any #C64 Fans and especially any #SID Fans should have quick click and take a read at break / lunchtime. Top article - would read again. A+++ (And with a name like Pilkington, he should be a Private Dick! - Ed)

#CommodoreFormat looking glorious in issue 11. 88%. None too shabs.

My original (obviously!) collection of #CommodoreFormat mags from the early 90s. Issues 1 through 20, I am curiously missing issues 21, 22 and 23, then I have 24 through 33. Where the prittle jar of doom dada dun day are those three? 👀 Bizarre Inc. indeed. #C64 magazine treasure!

#CommodoreFormat (as I mentioned) got the game for its opener and Andy Dyer gave it a high 82%. Not bad. Has anyone actually played this game..?
July 31, 2026 at 7:56 AM
#CommodoreFormat in its gaudy minging we need to switch up our game (incorrect!) look, give the game a surprisingly good 85%.

#MorningYawnings! Helping a mate out this avvo, deconstructing 3 iron-frame beds in his house that is about to be sold, as he is stuck in France and on the tool hunt in the shed... Five more photays to come...

#CommodoreFormat and I'm not sure what tea Roger Frames had been smoking, but 82% for budget Armalyte and 68% for Budget Hawkeye is just nonsense. Grow up!
January 7, 2026 at 9:34 AM
#CommodoreFormat issue 17 and Roger Frames gave the game a shitty 42% - correct. If you can get off Level 1 (without the instructions) - you're a genius.
May 18, 2026 at 7:00 AM
#CommodoreFormat sure seemed to like the game too, giving it 96% - one of the highest rated games throughout the mags history. The reson it lost 4%? No in-game music. Rats!

#BackLog64 Rick Dangerous 2

The original was great, if unfair, but the sequel, I thought, was marvellous. Glorious usage of the #C64 palette, 5 very different levels, lovely story & I remember fondly reading about it in #CommodoreFormat an' I want want WANTS eeet! Proper, decent platformer. Bravo!

#EveningStevens! Just look at this. Pondering through #CommodoreFormat issue 16 for reasons and this gem is uncovered. £11 turd anyone? I've played it. It's shite. But, 12% is WAY lower than, maybe, IDK, 30%, let's be generous, 30% of the #C64 software out there that is MOSTLY utter garbage. Trash.
July 18, 2026 at 6:09 PM
Issue 6 of #CommodoreFormat and they only rated the game at 91% - far too low, which they rectified for the budget release 18mo giving the game 94%.
April 28, 2026 at 7:29 AM
#CommodoreFormat gave the budget release even less with a (too) low 68% score. But, RF also gave budget Armalyte 82%, so he is clearly a total cunt - Armalyte is arguably the best shoot 'em up on the C64! and for £3.99?!!?!? LOSER!

At least #CommodoreFormat bothered to review the game back in 1990 and review it down they did. 49% was the score. Gotta love Kati Hamza.

#CommodoreFormat issue 11 (T2 cover feature) thought even higher of the game and I am inclined to agree: 90%. It really is great fun, plays well, sounds lovely and has decent physics. It's BRILL!
August 2, 2026 at 9:43 AM
#CommodoreFormat issue 18 (Indy Heat cover) and Roger Frames amazingly gave this pile of twoddle 81% and on the previous page gave Silkworm 87%. SW is in th 90s and Xenon is deffo less than 80s. Bonkers.
April 1, 2026 at 8:09 AM
#CommodoreFormat issue 6, with a Last Ninja 3 / Shadow Dancer cover, had a load of decent games reviewed. LETC was one of them - 90%. I love me some old school CF.
March 15, 2026 at 10:54 AM
#CommodoreFormat on the other hand, were right on the money, in my book. Issue 4 (Movie Tie-In Cover) nestled right near the back by Pang, this lovely double spread. 70%. Correct. It is flippin' boring.
July 17, 2026 at 8:26 AM
#CommodoreFormat and Andy Dyer popped a 68% score on the game. I think, I wonder, if the 2-PLY mode might be more fun. Frankly, I think it will be double terrible, but still...
September 10, 2026 at 12:13 PM
#CommodoreFormat were the only mag to review the game, as far as my (non-existent) research shows, and Roger Frames gave it a very solid and high 88% in issue 17 (First Samurai cover). The original CJ'S EA scored up in the 90s, so to stay close to that is impressive for a VERY similar sequel.
September 18, 2026 at 8:42 AM
#CommodoreFOrmat afforded the game a proper double-spread review, and a 76% score, which, for me, is too high. There is VERY little to like about C64 Strider II.
