#Compostability
The visual appeal of the new design and the recyclability of all packaging and the compostability of the teabags themselves…we are SO GRATEFUL for the level-up opportunity and everyone who helped us get here!
Got my kickstarter tea from @fridaytea.com !!!! And omg I love the new packaging!!! It's so pretty and informative. Thank-you! Can't wait to have some more genmaicha!

The White House is arguing that Canada banning single-use plastic, e.g., is harmful to American imports.

Jute grown on flood-prone land in Bangladesh is being processed into compostable packaging alternatives, but meeting international compostability standards at scale remains unsolved. #agri #supplychain

Compostability is good, was good and always will be.

My statement on the current somewhat strange attitudes towards plant-based building materials that are supposedly 'not climate-positive'.
Replace bale with bale, board with board. Don't overbuild but build for centuries.

Just when I think I can’t be wowed by the next big thing happening on our UW campuses, partners like UW-Stevens Point and WIST remind us that innovation slows for no one.

Their new Compostability Testing Laboratory will shape the future of what true sustainability can look like.

First we need less and then reusability and a system to support it

And then We need to be developing and deploying plant originating packaging

And abandon the belief in recyclability as it’s demonstrably not worthwhile

Compostability is less important too but a “nice to have” if possible.

ah I see! I thought maybe the compostability was the important bit? those will probably rake into the bed beautifully at the end of the season!

New study shows (again) that none of the tested bags made of supposedly compostable #plastics (polybutylene adipate-co-terephthalate, polylactic acid, corn starch) met the ISO biodegradation criterion necessary to be considered 100% compostable. #bioplastics

Evaluation of the compostability and toxic effects on Hordeum vulgare and Cynodon dactylon plants of plastic bags manufactured with compostable plastics
Because of the problem related to the accumulation of plastic bags in the environment, polymers called “bioplastics” have been developed. These materials are designed to reintegrate quickly into the e...

I think it's because food waste can be a bit 'variable' in its compostability (real word, whatever autocorrect says 😏). I think meat, for example, can cause some problems.

What exactly does it mean when we say something is compostable? Compostability is influenced by how a product is made, which greatly influences how it behaves at end-of-life. By @keithrochfort.bsky.social @dublincityuni.bsky.social @researchireland.ie www.rte.ie/brainstorm/2...

This appears to be a different kind of hemp thermoplastic marketed as "compostable", but yeah, compostable plastics actually aren't under real conditions anyway. But with this specific CBD polycarbonate I don't see any mention of compostability, and from a chemistry perspective it seems unlikely.

Some states set standards for biodegradability or compostability. For this type of product, that will largely hinge on the size of the remaining microplastics as the product breaks down

California unsurprisingly has tougher standards than other states

“California aims not just for compliance but for genuine systemic change. With clear targets set for reduction, recyclability, and compostability over the next decade, this legislation could serve as a model for other states—and even countries—looking to tackle similar challenges.”
