The Great Man will return jobs and prosperity. He'll add more shifts on the line. He'll fix all our (perceived) social problems. Henry Ford was this Great Man, and people treat guys like Gilbert, Illitch, and whatsisname, the Compuware guy, the same way.

I worked in the building formerly known as Compuware in downtown Detroit. One time I was on the elevators by myself and in walks Dan Gilbert. Just nodded hello. Different floors obvs. Another time I went through the security gates and walked out to the lobby right next to Mitch Albom.
Ok Bluesky, what are your most low key celebrity interactions? I once shared a lift with Tim Finn and put drinks in Bryan Brown and Rachel Ward’s fridge. My husband sold cheese to John Cleese and my mum delivered groceries to Gough Whitlam. Go!!

They played at Compuware in Plymouth, I thought!

I know I am! I’m also a Plymouth whalers fan, having worked for compuware.

I’m partial to the compuware because I used to work for the company.

It was busy in downtown Detroit today. Felt like a proper city.

Karmanos wanted to play in Auburn Hills as he was a Detroit native (he owned Compuware and was huge in the junior scene there) and when the NHL was like "aw, hell no", he went "Fine! I'll play in an abandoned airplane hangar in Columbus!"

weirdly i did a COBOL bootcamp in the 1990s. it wasn’t a for-profit school though, it was a program that Compuware ran to train new hires for their consulting division

Oh I’m glad they have girls teams now. My younger brother played against them, compuware and little Cesar’s and I was always so amazed they had such name brand corporate sponsorship.

I remember hearing about people working for Compuware (I think they were EDS at the time?) and how you had to wear a full on business suit to work even if you were a lowly computer programmer or internal IT person who never saw the light of day or a customer/client.

That little fold on the building is so weird. So many different views. When I worked on 19, I could see Compuware, Ford Field, County Court building and the Ren Cen from my desk.

It can't end!! I have never been on a MOO or MUD!

I went BBS (~1982), Compuware, Prodigy, USENET via university internet (early 90s), IRC, LiveJournal (met my wife), FB, Twitter (2007), Bluesky.
