Abraham Lincoln gave mass amnesty to Confederates. Apparently he thought tracking & imprisoning every soldier was impractical. 🤷‍♀️ In the context of today, people think this set the tone for people to idolize the Confederacy, but they ignore that amnesty was a condition of the Confederacy's surrender.

Do you think White Southerners when they lost the Confederacy had even one iota of empathy for Black people? No they didn't and they don't and they never will and that is one of the major tragedies of this country – total lack of empathy decency fairness
Empathy in America has been dying for 60 years, at least.

The GOP is a confederacy of dunces

No, it's not as neat - in the Civil War, the ratio of black soldiers was about 100% Union, 0% Confederacy, not the 69-31 split of 1776. And yet, that one side had 69% and the other 31% should make it clear which side was overall the side of freedom.

Its bad enough being an American and having to live under this confederacy of dunces...but the listen to the Brits have a good chuckle about our lack of seriousness as a nation is makes it even worse...

Being Republican is a cultural thing going back to the Civil War ..people's Relatives fought for the Confederacy and still do by voting Republican..it's not hard to understand..but it is up to the rest of us to stop them.
I'm seeing that too in a town I go through to work in Ohio. A lot more blue signs. Some reds, makes me wanna knock on their door and ask why?

drag acts. At college he was a member of a fraternity that celebrated the confederacy and prominently displayed its symbols and flags - and he (still) supports the Confederacy. Lee can now add "dispenser of cruel and unusual punishment" to his foul CV. Naturally he's a 'good Christian'.

There's not a single cabinet member that would sign on to the 25th amendment. This Confederacy of Dunces is empowered because he's so addled. They can run their agenda without him just as long as they kiss his ring.

Who in entire history of our country is even remotely close to Hegseth regards incompetence, purposely destroying our own military & outright treason?
A: No One

I don’t count traitorous Confederacy, were good at war until Grant/Sherman came along.

If the confederacy can't come back then rape America dry and leave wreckage and ruin . I Their wake

The confederate constitution also has some wild examples of this. The states that seceded and joined the confederacy basically gave up their own states rights to make decisions about slavery, in exchange for a guarantee that slavery would be safe from government interference no matter what.

Among the American states, Utah consistently matches the track record of states of the Old Confederacy in charging, convicting and sentencing to death Blacks and Hispanics who are plainly innocent of the crimes with which they have been charged. It's evidence of malignant racism

The biggest violent insurrection in American history was the confederacy which had the objective of expanding slavery. Not only did it fail but it resulted in emancipation and the devastation of the south for generations while the north grew wealthier and more prosperous during the war.
