IN: Dysfunctional Conscientiousness
I teach a course where students pick a construct and develop a questionnaire.

Last year, a group chose "precrastination." They were the 1st to hand in their assignment.

If you fail to link the democratic project to conscientiousness and the moral good in the minds of the youth, they will be understandably jaded about democracy. honestly we should all be relieved that young people are still bought in enough to be susceptible to zohran fever
“Why aren’t college students protesting” stories are almost always wrong (they are protesting), omit crucial context (they were brutally punished for protesting before), and somehow suggest that 19 yr olds have more moral responsibility than elected officials three times their age

There goes the neighborhood.

NEPA basically just says you need to think about the environment before you do stuff, consider alternatives, and write it down. Ya know, the bare minimum of conscientiousness and good stewardship.

I think the fact that no one pretends to care about civic virtue anymore is somehow linked to the abandonment of *professional* virtues. Professionalism, conscientiousness, even basic effort — those are all for suckers. Better to be a lazy mediocrity and a shrewd social climber.
