"Maintain the status quo"
I don't know where to begin with a Prime minster with years left on his term and a huge majority saying he won't do anything until the next general election.

Is he intending to just not govern until 2029?

Declassified journalists banned from Labour conference – again.

A Trumpian policy started by Keir Starmer.

Burnham can't make a fresh start without getting rid of the previous advisers.

Democracy means accepting scrutiny, even when it is uncomfortable.

Hmm, unkept pledges.
Now, where have we seen that before...

#ContinuityKeir
If it was dangerous in September 2025, it is still dangerous now.

But backtrack Burnham has gone back on his pledge to fix our broken electoral system.

As Burnham lets us all down by dropping calls for a cap on Big Money political donations, a reminder, the UK hit a new low on the Global Corruption Index last year.

It's clear, extreme wealth inequality is a threat to democracy & decency...

Burnham drops support for political funding cap aimed at curbing mega-donors.

Reportedly, favours a cap at £500k.

How many people have £500k to buy influence? A game only the super-rich, big corporations/unions can play.

Can't end political corruption without banning all political donations.

But maybe —just maybe— Andy Burnham is full of performative puff and has no real intention of properly addressing such issues.

Andy Burnham has called for a historic break with neoliberalism. But what would such a rupture actually consist of? And what are the chances of the new Prime Minister enacting it?

Sticking plaster politics from #ContinuityKeir.
The interviewer points out the VAT cut on energy bills will save people less than £1/week on average

Alexander: "Every £ makes a difference"

The problem is the average £45 saving from October will be less than the expected typical price cap increase. So bills will still rise

Is Andy Burnham's Labour going to be any different to Keir Starmer's?
All the evidence so far would suggest not where it counts.

#Renationalise water
This absolute farce of a situation speaks to two things:

1. #Ofwat and similar regulatory bodies such as #Ofgem and #Ofcom have completely failed in their objectives. They are entirely corrupt.

2. Water & other utilities are not public services when they are private companies. #Renationalise now.
£15,000 pay rise for OFWAT CEO.

Must be for performance - water companies dumping sewage in rivers, unplugged leaks, record hike in customer bills, permitting companies to pay dividends

Will probably get a job with a water company, previous CEO is director of Thames Water.

Burnham won't do this, just like he won't do anything about the other issues that really count and will genuinely change the status quo in England.

🚨 If the next general election is held under First Past the Post, it will deliver the most chaotic and unrepresentative results we've ever seen.

By then, the damage will be done. But we can still prevent a full-blown democratic crisis.

We agree with the Guardian: it's time to act.

This week in Andy Burnham’s Britain 🇬🇧🤐

Over 150 UK citizens, mainly pensioners including the daughter of Holocaust survivors, were arrested under terrorism laws for:
•Clapping
•Sitting down
•Reading poetry
•Holding a microphone

All could face up to 14 years in prison! 😤

Dear Andy Burnham,
How are you going to break the vicious circle below if you can't even recognise far right populism when it's dressed up in black and looting your towns?
#ContinuityKeir
Blinkered Starmer supporters think criticising Labour means Reform will get in at the next election.

But to prevent the rise of the far right, we need government policies that will break the vicious circle of socioeconomic conditions that breed fascism.

And we're not currently getting them.

Burnham is going on (a joke of) a 'listening tour'.

Well, how about:
- Put #SolarOnEveryRoof
- End energy profiteering
- Prosecute corrupt water company execs
- #Renationalise key public services
- Ban 2nd jobs for MPs
- Get #Leveson2 going
- Introduce #ElectoralReform and #PRNow

This week Andy Burnham has..

U-turned on spending £39bn on council houses.

U-turned on taking control of Thames water.

U-turned on supporting a political funding cap.

Ruled out any more financial support for the poorest. Despite energy bills going up by 17% since becoming PM!

Labour are NOT on our side & #Burnham talks the talk, but at the end of the day is just #ContinuityKeir.
