8 pints of the Pickled Three Bean Salad from So Easy to Preserve except I used Hungarian Hot Wax peppers instead of bell peppers because I had a lot, and it'll give it at little kick. Also, more beans I canned yesterday.

I got the second half of the green beans done after the dye party, 14 more quarts. Hopefully they all seal.

Canning season has officially commenced. 14 quarts of green beans. I probably have about that much to do tomorrow after the dye party as well.

Garden update: the pepper plants with Shawn for scale. The plants in the front have grown about six inches from last Saturday. Garlic looks ready to pull, and there's baby bush beans out there that will probably be ready soon. I'm also going to be picking hot wax peppers tomorrow.

I finally processed the garlic scapes today into scape pesto starter for the freezer, and I threw some in the roasted garlic hummus I made for yarn dyeing party tomorrow.

Experimenting with wheat-free, egg-free, dairy-free crepes this morning. I spread my home canned Blueberry Rhubarb Jam on the insides. They aren't bad, but I might try again with a different flour in the mix. These would be great for wraps for sandwiches, though.

We planted the last trays of flowers today. All the growlights are now off! Also, we weeded the peppers in the greenhouse. Lastly, I hadn't gotten around to killing the brambles that came up in my sand cherry bushes by the shed. Now I think I'm going to leave them until those berries ripen, lol.

Today, we planted roughly 129 tomato plants, 7 tomatillo plants, and 11 pepper plants in the buckets. We had 9 buckets left over, so I planted 3 varieties of winter squash in 5 buckets and 3 varieties of cucumbers in 4 buckers as an experiment. Still have 4 trays of flowers to go.

Today, we weeded the pots, added composted cow manure and fertilizer, blended it with the drill auger bit, and got the tonato cages in each bucket. Tomorrow, we will plant tomato, tomatillo, and pepper plants in the pots, and I may plant some experiments with seeds with whatever buckets are left.

All the damn beds are planted. Now I just have to deal with the pots. See alt text in pics for what I planted.

60% of another u-bed done: sweet basil, cilantro, cutting celery, Greek oregano, sage, lovage, and lemongrass. All I have left for the vegetable garden is planting the stuff I grow from seeds and the tomato and tomatillo plants. I've got a couple of trays of flowers that I need to plant too.
May 26, 2025 at 8:48 PM
One more u-bed down: 3 kinds of Swiss Chard, 3 kinds of mustard greens, some dill, and 24 some odd purple basil plants.

All the cabbage, kale, and Chinese cabbage varieties, the celeriac, and the Hungarian Blue Bread Seed Poppies are in beds. Tomorrow, we will work on getting the pepper plants in the greenhouse while it's raining.

All the rest of the Redwing and Blush onions from Dixondale, and the various varieties of onions, leeks and shallots I grew from seed are in beds. I'll be working on cabbage and kale this afternoon. Shawn did the landscape fabric.

One bed done, leeks, shallots, Patterson yellow onions, and Sterling white onions. We also picked up 36 bags of composted cow manure to refresh the established raised beds and the pots in the greenhouse for peppers.

After getting the 149 tomato plants repotted and in the half-assed greenhouse, we got the leek plants and 2/3 of the shallot plants from Dixondale in the new raised beds. My rhubarb is happy with all the rain.

Progress Update: We took advantage of the break in the rain and added the 84 bags of compost and soil to the three new beds. Now we just need to do the irrigation and add some mulch.
