Even endless wars can end when they lose legitimacy in the eyes of the nation waging them. That process begins at the grassroots.

He goes on to problematize the notion of hybridization in extremely thought-provoking ways. But this gets to the heart of what I've been working on wrt counternarratives to Trump II's Western civilizational discourse.

‘As the malaise deepens, more social media users are abandoning a cheery, compliant public performance and creating counternarratives that censorship can sometimes erase but not easily rebut.’ This is a fascinating piece. GIFT LINK above. 2/3

I'm saying that the administration is choosing to deal with people who aren't going to challenge their narrative, rather than with people who might have heard counternarratives from people within City Hall/city agencies/etc.

Victim testimonies from mothers can reduce public support for police violence even among right-wing voters by increasing empathy and countering victim-blaming narratives. 👮‍♀️💔🗣️

The Truth About Renewable Electricity: Your Questions, Answered
Reliable, affordable electricity is essential for many of the products and services that underpin the modern economy. But the sources of that electricity — and their respective merits and risks — are increasingly the subject of debate and polarization. A flood of narratives and counternarratives is rising in the media and public conversation about the reliability and affordability of renewables, as well as their impacts on the economy, jobs and communities. These mixed messages can make it hard to get the accurate information people need as they face important decisions about how they live, spend or vote. Here, we answer some common questions about renewable electricity, using the latest evidence, data and research. 1) What exactly is renewable electricity? Renewable electricity is power generated from naturally replenishing energy sources, including solar, wind, hydropower, geothermal and biomass. Solar and wind are considered “variable,” in that their output depends on weather, time of day and season. Hydropower, geothermal and biomass are considered “firm,” in that their output is reliably available on demand (although no power plant, whether it uses fossil fuels or renewables, is always available). Experience and modeling show that electricity grids can be reliable, affordable and clean (low-carbon) by combining...

It was inevitable, owing to our present political and sociocultural moment, and to the bottomless horror of the facts of this case, that the Clancy trial would inspire outlandish counternarratives.

Why People Want to Believe the Lindsay Clancy Conspiracy Theories
The widespread desire to believe in Lindsay Clancy's total innocence stems from a real reaction to the ways that the needs of women—especially mothers—in desperate circumstances are ignored.

It presents a historiographical review of studies on the ARPANET, internet, and social media. I focus on three toolkits inspired by Ron Kline's work: the identification of social groups, and counternarratives, and how Kline’s research on cybernetics elaborates the theme of automation in the AI age.

I am fascinated by how software tries to understand itself; the stories that get told, the cites that get affirmed, the diverging counternarratives that don't quite take off, or more troublingly, are laundered into supporting opposite narratives. I traced a great deal of this while writing my book

Why do counternarratives work?

They increase empathy and reduce victim-blaming. But not all messages are equally effective: appeals centered only on due process while acknowledging criminal involvement have little effect, and may backfire.

How marginalized groups tell their stories matters.

There aren't really any convincing counternarratives, sorry to say. What else is anyone supposed to believe? The arc of history bends towards justice? Please
but you'll see people across the spectrum eagerly propagating these narratives because, well, they do numbers.

"can't we go back to the good times before everything was terrible" absolutely kills in front of many audiences; people don't stop to think who is going to ride the wave they're creating

Every time I think of school pictures, I remember Michael Brown’s. Alexandra Bell incorporated it so poignantly in the Counter Narratives series. It is so important to families.
