Today's drafting energy is apparently all Daddy Dom Soren and Maeve being a brat. 🙃

Book 2 is a mess, ya'll. 😂 But that's what first drafts are for, I suppose. 😂

Just wrote a scene so intense I literally gave myself a headache. 🥴

I yelped and dug my fingers into his wrist as he nearly exposed me to the room, his knuckles pressed into the soft flesh of my breast as he bared the glamours to them, the evidence of his ownership. “Soren, please …” I begged.

The personal and political collide in Court of Gilded Shadows.

Half-fae princess trying to stop a war while navigating the sadism of a morally black villain, and the vampire who's falling first.

🩸 Yearning with literal fangs
✨️ Mythic magic
🧎‍♀️ Consensual D/s dynamics

Replacing instances of Maeve swallowing (one of my crutch physical beats) with her thinking "oh gods" has definitely elevated this chapter. 😏

Gave up on drafting and went back to outlining and ya'll -- book 2 is gonna be SO fucking good. We're talking: prophetic plotlines, HUGE character backstory reveals, and plot twists.

Maeve definitely has some insecurities she needs to work through, but Soren absolutely delights in the idea of Maeve exploring with other people. He just wants her to be happy and fulfilled. He'll watch, or not. 🥹

Been a minute since I've participated. Now that I'm on draft 6.4, I've got some new material to work with. No "signature" but I do have "sign."

#CourtOfGildedShadows #WIPSnips #DarkFantasy #DarkFantasyRomance #DarkRomantasy #VampireRomance #Romancelandia #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #BookSky
My eyes darted between the vial of blood-ink and Soren’s carefully neutral expression. “How does it work?” I asked in a tight voice. Soren leaned back in the chair. “We’ll need to mix your own ink using your blood – a single drop will suffice – and once it’s spelled, you’ll use it to sign me.” My brows lifted. “Sign you.” He gave a small laugh and said, “Yes. You’ll sign your name to me. Whenever you use the ink to write your message, it’ll appear briefly on my body. Likewise, I’ll sign you, so I can communicate with you if need be.” I blinked at him as his words moved through me. Sign him. And he would sign me. With blood. Our blood. My blood would be on his skin. His blood would be on mine. I suppressed a shudder.

Screenshot from Romantasy Addict. Text reads: Romantasy authors trying to introduce the love interest: Every other author: "A handsome man walked in." Romantasy authors: "Every instinct in her body told her to run." “You’re awake.” The voice that drawled out from the figure sitting in that chair was smooth and low, edged in a near-growl. Every part of me locked up at the sound of it — my body, my breath, my swimming thoughts. As if every part of me recognized the predator sitting just feet away.

Here, have some out of context, tangentially related headcanon from draft 1.3 of book 2:

Soren: -walks in to see Maeve sprawled sexily on the bed-
Maeve: -wiggles her eyebrows- hey big boy, I ate my vegetables today. ;)

Maybe I need a nap. 😅

I stared at his back for several more breaths, tracing my gaze across the muscles of his shoulders, the spray of bites along his neck, his forearms … his waist. “Ahh, Izzy's making sweet cakes!” a lovely female voice crooned from behind me. I turned as Arisandra – beautiful, dark-haired – stopped beside me, close enough I could feel the heat radiating from her. She met my gaze with sparkling dark eyes, and smiled. Sensation unfurled from my chest into my legs, and I spun away, aiming for the large table set on the other side of the kitchen.
