With all due respect, this is precisely what is wrong with the federal courts today. They should not be doing "everything humanly possible to give the government the benefit of the doubt."
"More than being upset and furious right now, I am just beyond disappointed in the government. I have done everything humanly possible to give the government the benefit of the doubt in this case. I have done it repeatedly. I have done it for months."

this whole thing sounds incredibly sloppy at a time where the DOJ really cannot afford more sloppy embarrassments in front of federal courts

He’s trying hard to vindictively prosecute his opponents and the courts keep telling him to fuck off. The courts and Marc Elias are practically the only thing stopping him.

The only thing more reliable than Trump lying to the courts is the courts believing him when he lies to them.
BREAKING WaPo:

A federal judge issued a temporary order Sunday blocking the Trump admin from airing those propaganda ads. But the administration blew past that deadline and ran two of the ads into the early hours of Monday, advertising data shows.
Trump blew past deadline to halt running taxpayer-funded campaign-style ads
A coalition of nonprofits had sued, calling the ads “propaganda.” The president has said campaign funds would be used to pay for the commercials going forward.

Trump is violating court orders now with abandon. And making misrepresentations to the courts about it. bsky.app/profile/klas...
Common Cause just told a federal judge that Trump's taxpayer funded propaganda ads ran hundreds of times after a TRO ordered an immediate halt to them.

This is what frustrates me. There is a lengthy record in courts all over the country of the Trump DOJ lying to the courts. Why does any judge give them the benefit of the doubt? When will we see lasting consequences for the liars? Serious questions.

USA Should have had investigation & a trial if needed. If found Trump was involved by the courts & found guilty, he could not have run for office.

Joe Biden was an excellent President but he was too gentle in this issue! We needed information, firmness & accountability!

That’s why we have courts.

I spent fifteen years practicing in federal courts, and I have never heard a judge this angry.

JR: What are the plans moving forward?

DOJ: Today, NPS go w/ contractor to see whether grounds are wet...I understand nothing can happen

JR: "Is everyone else aware of that? Because I promise you if that order is violated by two seconds, there are gonna be contempt proceedings."

When the practice of law in the relevant courts is restricted to arbitration and one mode of finding truth among many, the pursuit of justice through them is neutered. This usually does not matter one bit except when there are fascists on one side of said courts!

The USPS sandbags some mail-in ballots.

This is certain to be defeated by the courts.

The courts that forced Biden to retain this Trump policy are complicit here and this should be more ammunition to reform them root and branch.
JUST UNSEALED: A judge ruled this week that the first Trump admin's "Remain in Mexico" policy illegally subjected thousands of people – many with meritorious asylum claims — to horrifically dangerous and violent conditions and deprived them of access to attorneys.

From the decision: "When the federal government defies federal laws, our system of checks and balances permits individuals to turn to federal courts for recourse. And if they prevail, courts are duty-bound to step in under the Constitution."
This is a big deal. DC fed judge says that DOJ's pursuit (and use) of the state voter files is unlawful, on a bunch of different grounds.

And effectively confirms that for the 18 states that submitted files willingly, whoever collected the files at DOJ Civil Rights committed federal crimes.

VERY important point from my colleague Sam Bagenstos - the 2026 Senate races will determine the future of the Supreme Court and federal courts more broadly.

Which means the 2026 Senate race in MICHIGAN could determine the future of the Supreme Court
"The election for Michigan’s next U.S. Senator ... may well decide which party has a majority in the Senate. And control of the Senate will determine the direction of our courts." David Jaffe and me in the Detroit Free Press today. www.freep.com/story/opinio...
Michigan’s U.S. Senate race will decide the Supreme Court's future | Opinion
Control of the U.S. Senate means control of judicial confirmations. Michigan could decide both.

Personally I think the courts are AFRAID to hold them in contempt. The courts are AFRAID that if Trump and his administration disobey after Contempt of Court it will show the courts have NO Teeth to enforce, but to me WE NEED TO KNOW THIS the sooner the better. 🤔

So the Alabama Supreme Court has finally determined that pre-election, the only way to challenge Tommy Tuberville's dubious residency for Gov was via an internal party process, not the courts.

And post-election, still no role for the courts: the overwhelmingly-GOP Alabama Legislature decides.

It's funny the way people think anyone in this admin will listen to the courts. The courts are as spineless as the Dems in Congress as stopping the madness. Why has no one been thrown in jail?
