A VERY late offering for today’s marvelous #CourtshiporConflict theme

In the first frame, the lady #Anhinga tries to get the male’s attention. He appears to be disinterested

In our second frame, the lady turns up the volume to get his focus. The couple gets on the same page to dance

#BirdOfTheDay
The female Anhinga stretches her neck in the direction of the male. The male Anhinga strikes a somewhat regal pose. They are framed by Spanish Moss and abundant greenery that encircles the freshwater pond that serves as a nesting site for Anhingas, herons, egrets, and storks The lady squawks loudly at the male to get his focused attention. OK. They aren’t really dancing. They are exhibiting the classic wing-drying behavior they share with cormorants. Still, dancing made for a more compelling story, don’t you think?

Honestly, I am not sure if this is a Lesser Goldfinch feeding its mate or a fledgling from a very early clutch. Whichever it is, it was from yesterday's walk and started out with a lot of flapping wings. #Birds

Two large gray birds are perched on a nest of twigs in the top of a tall tree. These are Great Blue Herons. Great Blue Herons are mostly monogamous during a single breeding season. Once a pair forms through courtship, they generally remain together to build the nest, incubate eggs, and raise young, with both parents sharing duties. However, they do not form lifelong bonds; most individuals choose new mates each year. This photo was taken in Essex County in the Adirondack Park in upstate New York.

Great Blue Heron, perched in the top of a Cypress Tree. This king of the waders is facing camera left, long neck curled - presenting the head with its long sharp beak at nearly the same level as it's shoulders. New growth of the Cypress Tree showing a gentle yellow- greenish hue in the golden soft sunset light. Tiny iridescent blue green Bahama Woodstar, captured with wings horizontal, blurred from flapping speed, body, head, beak and eyes captured in still sharp focus. Sunlight streaming through dense foliage as this little feeder flits about. Pair of Black-Bellied Whistling Ducks, from the shoulders up, both looking camera left. Light brown shades on neck and a darker stripe back of neck center, growing larger towards top of head. Ducks in front of a patch of marsh plants, green leaves gently backlit by the sun. Barred Owl, perched on a branch in thick foliage. Sunlight breaking through to illuminate brighter a portion of the bird's right wing and shoulder. Bird is facing photographer quarter right. This woodsy Hunter is kind of hunched over, observing a potential target down below.

Two small woodpeckers with striking black-and-white patterns are engaged in a dynamic interaction on a vertical tree trunk. The bird on the left has its wings flared wide, showcasing white spots on its dark feathers, and is looking toward the other bird. The woodpecker on the right is clinging to the bark with its sharp claws, leaning back with one wing partially extended and its head tilted up, revealing a small red patch on the back of its crown. The scene is filled with movement and bright, natural light, set against a soft, blurred background of winter trees.

The photo features a couple of hooded crows (Corvus cornix)perched on a concrete ledge. They are leaning forward, facing each other and using their beaks to pick at small pieces of cat food on the wall. The setting is a mix of textures. The birds stand on a rough concrete barrier. In the background, there is a vibrant, bright red corrugated wall with vertical lines that creates a strong visual contrast.

A red male northern cardinal jumps to a smaller twig and spreads his tail and wings while looking to the right. A red male northern Cardinal, holding on to a thin branch, turns away from the camera and puts his head down and fanned tail up with wings partly open. A brown female northern cardinal with bright red beak perches on a branch facing the camera but turns her head to the right. Perhaps she is not impressed by the male’s show!
