As someone who is hyperconnected to the Covid community, I'm seeing more & more masked events. This is Toronto, but several other cities are also hosting Covid safer events 💕

Getting vaccinated is much safer than getting Covid
For children and teens, heart and blood vessel complications of Covid overshadow the very rare and short-term risk of vaccinations, a new report from nearly 14 million kids

While most of the music industry has moved on, COVID-conscious performers have been working to prevent their shows from being superspreaders.

Prior infection doesn’t guarantee protection from getting COVID again. Reinfections can happen, and every new infection is another opportunity to develop Long COVID. Reducing the number of times we’re infected still matters.

Brendon tragically joins a growing list of The WB stars dying young. But why is this happening post-pandemic?

The COVID-19 pandemic did take peoples rights away… and it is still taking people’s rights away.

Even if you don’t realise it. Your right to safer air and better health has been taken away.

This is great.

COVID mitigations should be framed as workers rights that facilitate safer work and leisure!
In our first video essay for The Sick Times, drag artist Taipei talks about how #LongCOVID impacts her work as a performer and how many spaces are inaccessible for disabled performers due to a lack of COVID-19 precautions. bit.ly/4i4Iw1x

One infection. That's all it takes.

For millions around the world, a single COVID infection led to symptoms that lasted months or years.

Long COVID can affect the brain, heart, lungs, immune system, and more. (...)

Myth: Masks don’t work against COVID-19.

Fact: A well-fitting, high-quality respirator can significantly reduce your exposure to airborne virus. Fit and filtration matter, which is why respirators such as N95s are recommended.

Protect yourself. Protect others.

Hey look👀

Getting a COVID vaccine is safer for kids when compared to getting a COVID infection

Has your family gotten their COVID booster yet?
Important study

Children & adolescents are "far more likely to experience rare but serious heart & inflammatory conditions after a COVID-19 infection than after being vaccinated–and the risks after infection lasted much longer"

Like I want to be 100% covid is still life threatening and it’s worse for disabled people, you should still mask and test AND ALSO push for covid related policies that can keep people safer like unlimited sick leave and improving indoor ventilation.

Pregnancy, LIKE COVID, makes your blood clot more and is hard on respiration. You do NOT want Covid while pregnant. Getting the shot while pregnant is much safer than getting Covid and also protects your baby, especially if you breastfeed.

Why are these men trying to harm women and babies?
Federal vaccine advisers are setting their sights on the next targets: the mRNA Covid shots, and vaccines offered to pregnant women. One panelist, Robert Malone, says he is “trying to force FDA to come clean” on data showing harms of COVID shots

4+ years into COVID and many still missing the nuances:

Often 6ft isn't enough, but increasing physical distance reduces risk

N95 are much better, but surgical masks do help

Outdoors is safer, but you can still catch it

Vaccines reduce transmission, but don't eliminate it

I want to stress: COVID IS a test of moral integrity. You can check wastewater data in your area. Levels of community transmission are high where I am. I am just as vulnerable to COVID as I was in 2020. I would be safer if other people acknowledged that and took action to get boosters and wear N95s
I feel this so strongly. Covid was a test of our moral integrity & decency -- *not just elites, but all of us* -- and we failed.

I genuinely think one reason Covid has been memory-holed so hard, & so crusted w/ myths & conspiracy theories, is that on some level we know this & are ashamed.
A remarkably disheartening thing is you get the sense there are a handful of genuine historic fork in the road moments of what kind of country we want in our lifetime, and I still can’t shake how much during the height of Covid we had a decision of what lessons we’d all take from it and what…

Five years after the rollout of Covid-19 vaccines started, it seems the mystery of why the Astra-Zeneca and J&J vaccines led to a rare but deadly side effect of unusual blood clots and bleeding has finally been solved.

It's a fascinating case of molecular mimicry that may help make vaccine safer.🧪

Long COVID isn’t rare.

According to the WHO, about 15 in 100 people still have symptoms 12 months after COVID-19 infection.

Prevent infection. Prevent reinfection. Protect your health.
