JUST IN: Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders asked to leave a Little Rock restaurant during lunch last week. "Last week I was having lunch with two other moms at a restaurant when the owner approached a member of the State Police Executive Protection Detail and said my presence made their employees feel threatened and told us to leave," says Governor Sanders. Her office says the incident happened Friday, March 13, at The Croissanterie in Little Rock. Sanders was dining with friends and accompanied by her State Police Executive Protection Detail. According to her administration, the group had been seated for about an hour and fifteen minutes, had already paid, and tipped before the owner allegedly asked them to leave. On background, Sanders' office says the owner told security the governor's presence was making employees "threatened and uncomfortable" because of her political views. As Sanders and her group were leaving, her office says a man standing with restaurant staff yelled, "it's time to go," while making a crude hand gesture in her direction. "Arkansans are known for their warm hospitality, and while that restaurant certainly doesn't meet that standard, my administration will continue to focus on lifting Arkansans up, not tearing others down with discrimination and hate," says Sanders.
