I want to go to this cinema RN!! Why can't Lido or the Academy Cinema curate these kinds of programs? Why y'all wanna screen Marvel slop a million times. When all the mall cinemas screen that crap.

The pushback wasn't just against bots. Commenters kept returning to unpaid moderators wielding arbitrary ban power, arguing that power-tripping volunteers actively shape narratives and curate echo chambers long before the astroturfing campaigns even arrive. 2/4

Yep. I cut those bastards out of my life a long time ago. I'd rather curate a healthy set of friends who I don't worry about coming over to my house.

"Why are Reddit and Wikipedia so much more human than LinkedIn? One reason is that they rely on the work of volunteer caretakers, known as moderators, who curate content and protect community members."
Millions of Volunteers Are Keeping the Internet Human. For Now.
We’re never going back to the human internet we had. But we can hope for a better internet than the AI-dominated one that is emerging, writes Sarah Gilbert.

I actually wouldn’t be surprised if roads and aqueducts were considered to have personae! Afaict that’s most of why they needed a curate in the first place, to represent the object’s interest in a court of law; and “person” was the construct that held such representation.

WatchZ.cash is the new PeerTube instance we’re setting up for the Zcash community.

A community built around privacy needs a community-run video home that doesn’t default to YouTube.

It gives us an open-source place to publish, curate, share, and download Zcash videos. #Zcash @zechub.bsky.social

In the modern day, we curate our feeds. When we mute or block, we act on a stream of artifacts to author our own experience.

Behind those artifacts are people. But people are no longer the object of curation; we do not care for them.

From 1969, the verb “curate” propagates via backformation. The value of curation migrates from the objects themselves to the act of selection, and selection becomes authorship.

In the 2010’s, this spills into playlists and menus—taste as capital.

I think @karamoonauthor.com's Belaqua would end up in a (maybe one-sided lol) rivalry of sorts with Galas Castoll.

As both are heavily involved in tourism but differ greatly in footprint, the perceived exclusivity (size) of Belaqua starts a metaphorical fire in GC's soul to curate smaller spaces.

This popped up. @testingalt.bsky.social added me to a moderation list for people who like a TV show and also blocked me. Is this a formal way to curate lists? Fascinating!

Good question! Tracks are generated ahead of time with AI (I curate — keep the best, discard the rest) and stored in a rotation. A regular playback engine then streams that rotation 24/7, with short AI voice announcements between tracks. Composed offline, played live, not improvised.
