Bharat Aggarwal systematically published fraudulent papers on the disease-fighting properties of curcumin (found in turmeric).

Those papers (30 retracted) got other folks doing turmeric studies, despite no evidence of efficacy.

Turmeric and curcumin aren’t interchangeable. Turmeric is the whole spice; curcumin is one compound inside it. Supplements may concentrate curcumin and change how well it’s absorbed—but better absorption ≠ proven benefit. #Turmeric #Curcumin #Nutrition #Supplements #Science

From a 2017 article (link below): “The likely false activity of curcumin in vitro and in vivo has resulted in >120 clinical trials of curcuminoids against several diseases. No double-blinded, placebo controlled clinical trial of curcumin has been successful”

But curcumin has very low bioavailability: almost none of what you ingest ends up in your blood & this is coupled to a low plasma half-life for the active form.

So what little you absorb doesn't stick around long.

Research is underway to extend the activity & increase absorption.
