Jessie Buckley is now at a unique and fleeting moment in her career, like Neil Jordan was after Interview With The Vampire or Cillian Murphy was after Oppenheimer, to get a movie about a critical moment in Irish history made.

What would/should/could she pick?

The Curragh Plain, Kildare: yet another vast, sheep-trashed Irish landscape that would naturally be rich, diverse forest.

By not giving farmers a feasible livelihood option in #Rewilding, society (ie, ALL of us) is actively *choosing* nature collapse. 🌍

The Curragh in Co Kildare is ecologically trashed due to sheep grazing.

I understand politicians need to feel their county has something to offer but surely the National Park label needs to carry some shred of integrity?

Government urged to make the Curragh a national park
Fianna Fáil senator Fiona O’Loughlin told the Seanad it was agreed in the programme for government that a conservation plan for the Curragh would be implemented

The Curragh.' (1914) This painting by Irish artist Paul Henry is full of drama, accentuated by the use of a high horizon and tall waves as if to remind us of the danger facing the crew of this small boat. It brings home the harsh life of the islanders on Achill off County Mayo.

The plot thickens. Tim Severin reports that his 1970s reconstruction of St Brendan's curragh wasn't able to sail windward at all.
I was under the impression that early medieval European ships *couldn't* tack into the wind but this article I'm reading seems to indicate that they could to a limited extent?
