EDX Markets And VerifiedX Partner To Bring Verified Bitcoin (vBTC) To Institutional Markets - Partnership Will Bring vBTC To EDX Markets For Institutional Spot Trading, While EDX Joins The VerifiedX Network As A Validator, Expanding Institutional Access To Tokenized, Programmable And Self-Custodial Bitcoin Infrastructure
VerifiedX (verifiedx.io), the programmable financial operating system for Bitcoin and intel assets, and EDX Markets (“EDX”), a leading digital asset technology firm that combines institution-only trading venue with a central clearinghouse, announced a strategic partnership to bring Verified Bitcoin (vBTC), a tokenized form of Bitcoin, to EDX for institutional spot trading.
Unlike conventional Bitcoin products, which rely on synthetic exposure or passive custody, vBTC is designed to activate Bitcoin as programmable, self-custodial capital while maintaining 1:1 underlying Bitcoin collateralization and native redemption liquidity back to Bitcoin at all times. As part of the partnership, EDX will join the VerifiedX network as a validator, providing EDX with direct participation in network validation and governance while extending the relationship beyond asset trading into the underlying infrastructure supporting vBTC. The
partnership represents a significant expansion of institutional market infrastructure for Bitcoin connecting EDX’s institutional trading and clearing ecosystem with VerifiedX’s Bitcoin-nation financial infrastructure.
From Bitcoin Exposure to Bitcoin Infrastructure
Bitcoin has become a globally recognized institutional asset, yet much of its financial utility remains fragmented across exchanges, custodians, wrappers, bridges and application-layer protocols. VerifiedX has addressed that fragmentation with vBTC, enabling Bitcoin to remain verifiably backed on-chain while becoming programmable across trading, payments, treasury management, lending and other financial applications.
The collaboration is expected to support a range of institutional strategies, including:
* Bitcoin trading and price discovery through institutional spot markets;
* Cross-market arbitrage and liquidity strategies between BTC and vBTC markets;
* Treasury and balance-sheet mobility, allowing Bitcoin capital to move between trading and programmable environments;
* Borrowing, lending and yield strategies built around Bitcoin-backed capital;
* On-chain liquidity and financial applications native to VerifiedX; and
* EVM composability through vBTC.b, the canonical representation of vBTC for supported EVM environments, allowing Bitcoin capital to participate in broader decentralized financial markets while preserving a direct redemption path to underlying Bitcoin.
Every vBTC represents Bitcoin collateralized 1:1 by underlying BTC, with Taproot addresses embedded in each token, and is designed with an evergreen redemption path back to native Bitcoin. Rather than creating economic exposure to Bitcoin without a direct path to the underlying asset, vBTC is built around continuous ownership, utilization and redemption.
Through EDX, market participants will gain a new venue for trading vBTC within an institutional market structure designed around aggregated liquidity, central clearing and capital-efficient settlement.
The objective is straightforward: allow Bitcoin to move between holding, trading, settlement and utilization without requiring allocators to surrender the fundamental economic relationship between the asset they deploy and the underlying Bitcoin they own.
Building an Institutional Market Around Programmable Bitcoin
“Bitcoin does not need another financial abstraction. It needs infrastructure that allows the asset itself to do more,” said Jay Pollak, Head of Strategy at the VerifiedX Foundation. “Bringing vBTC to EDX is important because it connects programmable Bitcoin capital with market infrastructure purpose-built for sophisticated institutions. An allocator should be able to trade Bitcoin, deploy it, move it across financial environments and ultimately redeem back to Bitcoin without losing the fundamental ownership characteristics that made Bitcoin valuable in the first place.”
“EDX joining as a validator makes this partnership even more meaningful. This is not simply about adding another trading pair. It connects institutional trading infrastructure directly with the network infrastructure underneath the asset. Institutions can also operate their own validators and control their own threshold signing, eliminating the requirement to depend on a public signing pool. We believe that combination of liquidity, programmability, institutional control and evergreen Bitcoin redemption is an important step toward Bitcoin becoming active programmable financial infrastructure,” added Pollak.
“Institutional adoption of digital assets increasingly depends on giving sophisticated market participants greater flexibility in how they trade, move and deploy capital,” said David Olsson, Chief Commercial Officer of EDX Markets. “Our work with VerifiedX is intended to expand the infrastructure available to institutional Bitcoin participants by connecting EDX’s trading and clearing capabilities with an asset designed for broader programmability and mobility.”
Institutional Control Without Dependence on a Public Signing Pool
A core component of the VerifiedX architecture is the ability for institutional allocators to establish their own validator infrastructure and control the threshold-signing environment associated with their Bitcoin.
Institutions are not required to rely exclusively on the VerifiedX public validator pool.
Any allocator can operate its own VerifiedX validators, register its vBTC environment to its own threshold-signing configuration and maintain institutional control over the signing infrastructure governing its Bitcoin ingress and redemption.
This architecture is intended to give institutions a fundamentally different choice: access programmable Bitcoin infrastructure while retaining direct operational control over the infrastructure securing their underlying Bitcoin at all times.
A New Market Structure for Bitcoin Capital
EDX is purpose-built for institutional digital asset trading and operates a spot trading venue with a central clearinghouse designed to reduce bilateral counterparty exposure and improve capital and operational efficiency. The collaboration with VerifiedX allows firms to utilize vBTC across a wider range of financial workflows while maintaining native ownership and a direct path back to the underlying asset.
For Bitcoin allocators, the addition of vBTC creates a potential bridge between two historically separate environments: institutional market structure and programmable digital-asset infrastructure.
Bitcoin as Native Financial Infrastructure
The EDX and VerifiedX partnership reflects a broader evolution in institutional Bitcoin markets.
The first phase of institutional adoption established Bitcoin as an asset that could be bought, held and traded. The next phase is about what that capital can do, and tokenized Bitcoin is how it does it.
VerifiedX has built the infrastructure intended to allow Bitcoin to operate as an active financial asset across markets without requiring institutions to accept unnecessary layers of synthetic exposure, opaque intermediaries or permanent disconnection from native Bitcoin liquidity.
The combination of EDX’s institutional trading infrastructure with VerifiedX’s programmable Bitcoin architecture is intended to create a more complete lifecycle for institutional Bitcoin capital — from execution and liquidity to ownership, settlement, programmability and redemption.
Additional details regarding vBTC and EDX will be announced in the coming weeks.
