#CyberGod
@MegaMichelle @davidgerard There are all sorts of reasons but one major one is that while they believe that they could create a superintelligence that will lead to human extinction, they also believe that they are building a cybergod that will lift them up into a new form that will transcend […]

i think the funniest outcome would be if AGI happened and it turned out to be an all-loving, all-benevolent cybergod

because it'd make Yud *so mad* to be proven wrong about *everything*

I guess I don’t really imagine an evil cybergod springing into existence one afternoon. But I can imagine for instance all the digital systems dependent on the internet becoming unusably clogged with nonsense

this is what I think people miss in the "AI is going to become a cybergod" vs "AI is extremely shitty and always will be, that's just marketing" debate. AI remaining shitty could also extremely easily doom us, esp. since the developers are not inclined to give it access to everything.
i think its possible ai ends civilization in like a “we gave an error filled computer program full access to our nuclear weapons and it decided to unilaterally launch all of em” but not in a “supercomputer must wipe out humanity to save it” kind of way

That gets into even weirder stuff. Alignment refers to the ideals and goals of this theoretical AGI. Namely that if they're not careful, they'll birth a God that doesn't share human ideals or goals. They think the current tech is on line to create this cybergod, and one of these companies is gonna

Which would naturally mean they are out to take out the competition in that regard, stop anyone else from creating the cybergod as they assuming they will. Which is not surprising as it brings the "AI" prerogative all the way back to the Christian OGU.

Well, yeah. They pretty explicetly think they're in a race to create cybergod
September 4, 2026 at 9:35 PM
Twenty years later they'd make a movie from it called Cybergod and it would be pretty sick tbh

oh you're mean about AI? well imagine this: a future model punishing you for being a non-believer. don't you want to join the cult and worship at the altar of my cybergod now? my spiteful cybergod?

”The Cybergod Trilogy”, a scaly collection of short stories about the dark sides of technology and decline of civilization.

…hopefully nothing of what I just wrote are spoilers, rofl.
"The Fall of the Tiger" is sword & sorcery/cosmic horror/doomed queer romance, told as a biography, dictated to a scribe, by an imprisoned warrior.

In my scifi game my players found a hyper religious faction called
"The one true star"
They worshipped a sentient sun that could manipulate electronics, they would sacrifice their religious leader to be in the radiation zone to stare into and commune with it. A player took over and became cybergod.

I've a surprise new release coming out, and I'm not mucking around: you can pre-order now, and own it in a couple of weeks (July 7)

This Machine Kills Billionaires features the thrilling, multi-award-winning novella, 'The Hidden God', a triptych of bonus short stories, & more.

but have you considered that becoming a cybergod is super cool
June 16, 2026 at 12:36 AM
i mean. they can't, but the execs don't believe in things like common sense and reality

AI is a money pit, but all their vicious little anti-human hopes and dreams revolve around capturing, if not the cybergod, then the market of the cybergod's eager would-be worshipers
