#Cyclical
As we approach our third journey through Ocarina of Time, @omgmorejames.bsky.social wonders if The Legend of Zelda could eventually become something akin to modern mythology through ongoing, transformative remakes of its cyclical central tragedy.

Play It Again: On Remakes and The Cycle of Zelda's Modern Mythology
The Legend of Zelda is one of gaming’s few ongoing mythologies. Could iterative remakes imbue its cyclical tragedy with new humanity?

We may not! It’s literally impossible to even speculate.

Here’s what we do know, though: voting publics are not predictably responding to material conditions.

Until we figure out what they ARE responding to, we cannot insulate ourselves from cyclical backlash with any degree of certainty.
This is a good thread and something I've been thinking about. Obviously I'm thrilled that voters rejected this psychotic administration. But it's somewhat depressing that we're going to have the opposite night in 4 years.
It’s been clear since early 2025 that the “the right controls the information ecosystem” theory of Trump’s power is wrong. Trump became unpopular much faster than Biden; the vibecession has gotten worse under him, etc.

But SOMETHING is definitely weird about the info environment.

Gaming criticism really is cyclical between “colors good” and “colors bad” huh.

I’m actually kind of heartbroken you didn’t do the cyclical math required for carnivorous insect horde survival patterns but also really really not.

between this and harry potter genderbends, there's something very beautiful about the right reinventing 2015 tumblr from first principles. says something about the cyclical nature of the universe, i think. very philosophical
Type of shit my edgy middle school classmates found cool in 2015

a truly intelligent person would have remembered that memory is one of the most predictably cyclical markets and bought a bunch while it was dirt cheap

Burger is cyclical but I’m onto friggin right now

IMO them running dogshit candidates is downstream of the overall problem that led them to this point in the first place:

their overall ideology sucks.

and it always has.

and it causes cyclical catastrophes in governance that have built up over decades to lead them to this outcome.
I don't see any way for the GOP to course correct and stop running candidates this bad.

At least not anytime soon.

Cyclical and yet we fall for it every 7 to 10 years in technology

about a century ago, but everything’s cyclical 🤞

Wrote about the cyclical, hollow nature of the right wing grift and its latest return to the galaxy far, far away
Anakin Posting and the Thin Veneer of Chud Fascism
The right has re-embraced the 'Star Wars' prequels recently—and played the same old trick in their tired playbook in doing so.

i guess it is cyclical anyway. "it is happening again." i like the fall, but i dislike this part of the cycle

Lol, not really, just some cyclical discourse.

The cyclical nature of "I want to be nice" and "I want to be evil" is SO real

Private equity tends to have cyclical returns, but rising rates & slow exits are making the cycle look less cyclical & more like a normalization to lower total return 2021-2022 vintages have been hit particularly hard, & moves by generalist GPs into software investing did not pan out 2/

It seems to be a cyclical process for me

“Blue wave” allows our movement to be framed as mere cyclical partisan midterm dissatisfaction. We won’t stand for the human values and the pain and the hard work that drove massive multi-community grassroots organizing to be flattened like that.
As @amityf.bsky.social says we must be specific. 🧵

i see you now with our positions reversed, with me viewing the cringe comps this time. is this destiny? are we condemned to cyclical recurrence for all time? or instead of doom, is resigning to this a liberation?

very deep when u think about it

It's all cyclical, huh?

US High Yield corporate bond spreads are back to their March 2026 oil shock highs, and it’s not just AI-related issuers pushing them up. Cyclical issuers dominate this space.

I covered 2012, where it finally sunk in that 2010 had been a structural shift, not merely a cyclical change that would revert in short order. I interviewed Tim Walz at the 2016 MN State Fair, where he insisted Trump would have little appeal in Minnesota's 1st District; Trump won it in November.
