Abed for the night.
We've packed bags and got computers, etc all bagged up.
Windows are as secured as they can be.
Our sinks, showers, and drains have our improvised sandbags on them. Leaving the toilets for now and crossing fingers.
I don't think I'll sleep well, or long.

I have my list.
I need start with one thing.
I understand that as the storm's approach has slowed it will not only last longer but probably? possibly? mean it is increases in strength, too.
I'm stuck in executive function paralysis.

Slept, but not enough. It's near light now, so time to be up.
Breakfast, consisting of deciding what's most perishable and the biggest coffee I can deal with.
Then, the enplastification. Contact/self-adhesive bookcover on windows. Bagging up electronics, keepsakes, etc.

I close to where land meets sea.
On a normal night, in the quiet of the witching time*, I can concentrate to hear the soft, rumbling presence of the ocean.
When I stepped outside at about 8pm tonight I could hear cars, neighbours televisions... And a definite growing roar.

Got all the supplies we were able to.
Made our knock-off 'sand' bags for floor drains, etc.
We got just about everything either inside the house or into the little back shed.
Switched our solar panels off.
In the morning we bag electronics, power boards, keepsakes, etc.

We have three cars that are usually parked outside, two of which not often driven.
Those are having starting issues - we're off to have the battery of one tested, and think we've located a set of ignition leads for the other.
Also, huntjng for duct/gaffer tape.

We're going to make our own 'sandbags', need to cover the mesh top parts of our toilet windows, etc.

I've not had to face this level of storm/cyclone threat before.
I walked around the house this morning taking photos of our everyday ephemera, trying to decide what to pack in a small keepsakes bag.

Stop twirling! And just get it over with. 🤣
Check out the latest track map where it done a full circle twice in the last 2 nights.

Last time a cyclone like this crossed near our area was 1974 & 1954.
Lots more development since then so it will be “interesting”. #CycloneAlfred
