#Décarbonisation
Despite what you hear from fossil fuel-funded politicians, the U.K has just generated a record amount of clean, domestic wind energy.

Enough to power 23 million homes!

U.K decarbonisation policy is a recipe for energy security.

6. Protest is an essential condition of decarbonisation.
Without it, the planet is cooked.

"But what about China?" has been a throwaway comment made many times to justify inaction on climate change or criticise decarbonisation policies.

Well China is now by far the world's largest manufacturer, installer, and user of clean energy technologies.

Three of Britain’s top five electricity decarbonisation records have been set in past two months…🥳

what did you think decarbonisation meant? papers? essays? etc
A woman in Russia's city of Bryansk says that the fuel situation is now so bad that they may no longer be able to use cars at all, as fuel lines are endless and prices at 140 rubles per liter ($7.25 US gallon) if you can find it at all.

🚀 Just launched: The EU’s new Heat Auction is a big step for industrial decarbonisation.

It backs clean process heat — heat pumps, electric boilers, geothermal, solar thermal — with competitive, outcome-based support.

Reform UK councillors have introduced a motion to rescind King's Lynn and West Norfolk's climate emergency declaration and deprioritise decarbonisation efforts

The council were going to vote on it on Thursday

But the meeting has been postponed due to extreme heat

It’s enormously concerning that, at the very moment when we need to be driving forward with deep decarbonisation and mobilising all our productive forces to deliver heavy investment in global warming adaptation, most British politicians are losing their nerve.

Decarbonisation means electrification, for the most part. And #China leaves the US and Europe in the dust. Here is the disaggregated chart:

electrification of transport and haulage would accelerate bringing forward decarbonisation and de-americanisation in Europe even faster
Drivers have faced surging pump prices since the onset of the US-Iran conflict in the Middle East, but supply squeeze warnings are now intensifying after Donald Trump expressed support for a 90-day US diesel export ban

What would happen in the UK if Donald Trump decided to ban diesel exports?

chris bowen and ted o’brien about to debate australian #nuclear on ABC 7.30.

such a shame that they’re engaged in this distraction — rather than debating real issues around decarbonisation.

It's officially the hottest June day ever.

We know who is to blame. Fossil fuel firms. The billionaire media. Weak politicians.

We know what we must do. Rapid decarbonisation & adaptation for a healthier, wealthier country safe for future generations.

decarbonisation out
deregulation in
arming efforts: magic fiscal space.

A quiet climate policy that was working has been axed

The Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) was cutting public building emissions, but has been quietly axed by the government

"Decarbonisation will be too disruptive, we shouldn't bother"

"Climate activists are too disruptive, they should be locked up"

Meanwhile...

There’s a streak of climate activism that seems to think “decarbonisation” is an act of moral purification, not a thing you do to the power grid.
Guardian Brain is a really stupid thing: this is the conclusion to a piece about the best fans. Fans are great! But AC is also great, and really isn't burning the planet as so much of the grid - especially in summer - is solar/renewables.

How carbon capture and storage and nuclear are adding little to decarbonisation compared to solar and wind
We’ve heard a lot in the news recently about how carbon capture and storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) is a major solution to decarbonisation.

Even whilst decarbonisation is every year proving simpler than ever expected
To restate the point more provocatively: there's a decent chance that the trajectory we are currently on will render the earth all but uninhabitable for humans for thousands of years to come.

Fossil fuels concentrate power - whether in the hands of corporations, or authoritarian states.

Decarbonisation isn't just about fighting climate breakdown, it's about taking back control.

Europe leads the way on electricity decarbonisation.

Not only the lowest emissions per kWh of major world regions but also significant reduction achieved in recent years and more to come in the future.
March 5, 2025 at 2:58 PM
Britain's rapid decarbonisation of electricity supply is a rare success story here. But virtually nobody talks about it and our shitty newspapers attack #NetZero everyday!
September 7, 2025 at 8:15 AM
So can we, like, do something now?

The time to start radical decarbonisation was years ago. Now we're on damage control and we STILL need to start radical decarbonisation.

Vote!
France recorded a high of 44.6°C today.

That’s so far beyond anything seen in the historical record, a 4.2 sigma deviation from the norm that it gives a return period of 87 thousand years.

It’s really difficult to convey just how utterly extreme this is.

The HUR campaign for global decarbonisation continues
October 21, 2025 at 12:17 PM
Price isn't driving decarbonisation of electricity supply. Government support (a mixture of subsidy and price stabilisation) is, making it just profitable enough.

No support = no decarbonisation.

Adam's wrong. (It does happen.)
