The mechanism seems to be that 1) you still have dormant cancer cells (DCCs) when you're in remission, 2) specific T cells keep DCCs dormant, 3) COVID makes those cells not do their job right, & 4) lets the DCCs become active cancer cells and metastasize.

Originally they were going to increase taxes on residents, then they shifted heavily to using DCCs, then developers cried foul, and then mayors were trying to figure out an imaginary third option where nobody would yell at them but the new wastewater treatment plants would still get built

DCCs are a regressive tax on new housing paid by anyone who needs that housing. Cities should stop subsidizing wealthy homeowners low property taxes with these ever increasing fees.

Cutting municipal DCCs in half and bringing back MURB would be the biggest financial moves a government has made on housing since the 1970s. Very good to see those in here.

We’re taking action to build more homes for people in uncertain times. That’s why we introduced legislation to extend instream protection for Metro Van DCCs from 12-24 months.
This means more housing projects can move forward and secure federal $ for Iona water treatment plant.

Regarding DCCs: one of the barriers to building is the high cost of building. Min recognizes that DCCs are high but that local governments need them. Some parts of Canada don’t even have DCCs. Apparently some changes to come in the fall to help address some of this?

Using HER2+ breast cancer mouse models, authors found that within days of infection, dormant disseminated cancer cells (DCCs) in the lungs began to proliferate. By 2 weeks? 100–1,000-fold expansion into metastatic lesions. All of it was IL-6 dependent.

But who pays the DCCs now? Total combined DCCs can be more than 100k/unit. Private developers aren't eating those costs, they're just passing them down to new homebuyers

it's a little funny. watching the dumb little dance party ending from the previous smurfs movie they did and seeing like. they animate the smurfs dancing with squash and stretch, they're overall very cartoony. they've made this shit look like a masterpiece now

I'm not inherently opposed to this sort of Keynesian cycle-smoothing. But very skeptical when it occurs without the harder work of fixing the market problems (ex. high DCCs & slow permitting). Feels like it's a punt, not a first down.
