The files on my desktop are neatly sorted into: junk, old junk, crap, important stuff, DCIM (2), DCIM (3), New Folder, and New Folder (2).

The DCIM file names normally correlate the data and time correctly even if whatever photo storage solution you use gets the metadata wrong.

there's a reason Yumi Tamura changed her art for Don't Call It Mystery and it's specifically because she didn't think her shoujo heavy artwork was palatable enough to read a wide audience and then wouldn't you know it DCIM becomes an even BIGGER hit then her already previously big hits
