usual tells on fakes: label print that's slightly blurry or off-colour, a sleeve that looks like a scan (soft text, flat colours), and a runout that doesn't match any version listed on discogs. if the matrix in the deadwax matches nothing, walk away

When I plug in the deadwax ID (7-LNMG-236-IL) it says it might be a South African edition but the cover doesn't quite match up. Clues anyone?

Collector friends, need some help sleuthing this copy of Osibisa's 1st. Appears to be UK but the label doesn't align with any postings I've found thus far on Discogs? There were numerous multi-color labels but none I've found just black / silver like this. Cont'd #musicsky #music

I found a reissue of Television's Marquee Moon. I checked the deadwax: CB. The Chris Bellman 2012 cut? Holy moly. I played it. 10 seconds in: this sounds way better than my original US LP. The one @notesonnoise.bsky.social always raves about. He was right. Legend. Chairman of the CB fan club!

Always wondered if I'd ever find one of these: a seemingly true first UK edition of ELO's 1976 smashterpiece, A New World Record. Easily the best sounding version of this I've ever heard, the telltale A1/B1 etchings in the deadwax indicate a first press. 1of2 #musicsky #music #vinyl #elo

Friends have been happy with Orbit and Pro-ject base models. Very stable and accurate manual turntables.
You can add a Q-Up to lift the tonearm once it hits the deadwax

I think the sought-after Robert Ludwig mastering, identified by the initials “RL” in the deadwax, was pressed at other plants as well, although I may be wrong about that.

Look, I think it’s fun when a record has info in the deadwax… but I’m not sure carving your branch info on the spindle hole of a DVD is better than any other form of labeling…

Check if it contains 'ELLO 'ELEN etched in the deadwax on the B side, than it is not from the LP release but the seperate later 1980 „Stranglers Information Service /Fan Club“ release. Do you still have the outer sleeve ?
