Anyone with half a brain didn’t take any of the “concerns” around DRIPA seriously.

Did voters in BC seriously think courts would en masse start giving peoples’ houses away or something?

Absurd on its face.

He also threatened to make the DRIPA changes that never came a confidence vote until Phillip got him to back down

Nothing in DRIPA is new... already protected by the constitution, and part of the constitution that can't be over ruled by the Not Withstanding Clause.

Embracing DRIPA would save decades of protracted court battles and billions.

As long as the sun shines the grass grows and the lawsuits flow....
The St’át’imc Chiefs Council (SCC) is joining several other Nations in a legal challenge against Carney's use of Bill C-5 to approve the oil pipeline and port expansion (that'll likely murder the orcas btw).

Who could have predicted this!!! Running roughshod over Indigenous rights = legal fights.

Yeah, it's brutal in BC with the conservatives essentially running on "We're going to rip up DRIPA just like we're going to rip up bike lanes, and audit all those corrupt chiefs who want to use "landback" to STEAL your house and kick your family onto the street!"

Here comes the racism, BC.
Eby was an idiot but you voted for this BC.

B.C. premier-designate Lorne Doerkson doubled down on his promise to repeal the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) following his victory in Saturday’s snap election.

Absolutely but the NDP didn't even try to defend the decision and then when they signaled their willingness to "amend" DRIPA they validated the misinformation.
The "left" needs to grow a pair and defend itself and the people it claims to represent.

You might want to mention this to the BC Conservatives before they rip up DRIPA so they can steal all the land they want....

25 years ago BC did a referendum even more racist than Alberta's recent one. There was a huge and successful boycott that undermined its legitimacy.

But you wouldn't know that from Kenneth Chan's whitewashing revisionism here.

Doerkson just promised "certainty" in BC (signalling at his promise to repeal DRIPA). Great time to re-read @adampolsen.bsky.social for @thetyee.ca.

Businesses, citizens and First Nations in BC all want certainty. We’ll get that only through better implementation of existing legislation.

Meanwhile in BC the CON's want to rip up DRIPA because they find it inconvenient to have to include First Nations in discussions about land use that they just want to plow over.

I agree. It’s awful to think that DRIPA would be repealed by the Cons!

Big mistake.
