Is is your legs that you can't feel, Ingrid?

Lord Vulgarmouth would've made an excellent addition to Twisted Sister. For all his hatred for rock & roll, the author has some great costume designs!
Ari blinks. The trollgre lays smoking on the ground. Ingrid hands him and Minnie broomsticks. Ingrid: Here Ari! We'll fly there with these magic brooms! Minnie: These things are cool! The three fly away on their broomsticks. Ari: Minnie, what note was Dumbitdown talking about? Minnie: Okay, but open up a can on me now -- yesterday I got a strange note that said "Take Ari to the store and find the door in the back alley" signed, "Doltus Dumbitdown" Ari: So you lied to me!? Minnie: Ari -- look around you! We're heroes, having a blast! We'll be rich and famous!! Ari: Minnie, this is only a big dream! An illusion! Ingrid: No, Ari, it's all too real! You can get hurt so badly you never wake up! (can't feel my legs anymore... anybody ever think of seats for these things?!) They arrive to confront Lord Vulgarmouth, the green-haired wizard from page 1. He looks like a glam rocker magician. Hairy polarity, a pink-haired kid, is imprisoned in a lightning-crystal thing behind him. Vulgarmouth: Well, well, well... if it isn't the @#*&! "occult odd squad" to the rescue! Does Prof. Doubledork regard the threat to Hairy Polarity so lightly that he dispatched you @#*&! three stooges as his "A" team??!! Oh, what will he unleash next? The @#*&! school sewing circle?! Ingrid: H'yuk it up while you can, Vulgarmouth! This boy is Ari Potiphar -- the only one to ever defeat you! He's the future, and you're history!

Remember teens, if you encounter a sorcerer, do NOT rebuke him in the name of Jesus Christ. Classic beginner's mistake!
Ari has been knocked to the ground. Vulgarmouth: @$#! time to start prayin' to your god, boy -- Ari: *kaff* *kaff* d-don't... understand... Vulgarmouth: -- cause you're about to @$#! meet hi- Huh?! Doltus, arriving: Enough! Doltus Dumbitdown casts "Slappyoo Sillyus", knocking down Lord Vulgarmouth in a blast of searing light. Doltus: Minnie! Are you okay? Minnie: mmm... okay. Thanks, Professor. Vulgarmouth: Dumbo! I'll take your wand and -- Minnie: Oh, shut up! Minnie casts "Supuhslammus Crammus", further battering Vulgarmouth. Ari, thinking: What happened?! Why couldn't I defeat vulgarmouth when I rebuked him in - hey - wait! Narration: I remember in the bible, where a group of men tried to cast out a demon using Jesus' name and were nearly killed by it. [Acts 19:13-20] That's it! Now I know why -- why I couldn't over power Vulgarmouth!

The pace of bible citations (I've checked them, they're not all that interesting) seems to increase linearly.

We keep bumping into reality problems. Sure, the author thinks demons are real. Sure, angelic encounters. Does he think secret magical libraries in the backs of bookstores are real?
The door creaks open to reveal a circular library full of tomes, with a round table of especially large books in the middle. Labels on the shelves read "High Magick", "Folk Magick", "The Dark Arts", "Spells", "Incantations", "Ceremonial Rites" Minnie: "Knowledge." That was the password. Magic is all about knowledge! [Proverbs 3:5, 1:7, 9:10, Isaiah 11:2, Job 12:13] Way cool! Remember? It's what professor Dumbitdown said in the first book of Hairy Polarity! Ari: Woah! Speaking of books... this is one great big honkin' load of 'em! Minnie: No diggity! [seriously? that's what she says?] It's some sort of a library about magic. Narration: But that was just it - the search for knowledge over wisdom was a big mistake to begin with - I see that now... If I could've only seen that then... Ari: C'mon, Minnie - let's haul on out of here - before we get busted! Minnie: Ari! Quit buggin! You'll get us caught! You're actin' all uptight! Here - staff costumes! Now people will think we're employees! The staff costumes are light-blue hooded robes, with red pentagrams on the back of their hoods. Minnie: Wow! Check out these biggest books, Ari! Ari: Huh! They - they're all the Hairy Polarity books, Minnie! Seems kinda odd-! Minnie: Seems slammin' to me! [translator's note: slammin' means cool] Let's open one!

The plot thickens! Doltus Dumbitdown the Gandalf Wannabe is secretly in the service of Lord Vulgarmouth? How could that be...
Minnie: straight up trippin'! How can you "see" all that now, after your constant griping about your parents shoving "the evils of witchcraft" down your throat?! You- you're just jealous I'm a more powerful sorcerer than you are! Besides... weren't you already a christian? Why are you suddenly one now and not before? Get a grip, Ari! Ari looks utterly stunned. Doltus: I admit that Minnie truly seems superior in skill and courage to you, Ari. Perhaps I need to rethink who is the best wizard...? Ari: Dumbitdown, it's time you told Minnie the truth. Who you really are. How you're actually under the control of Vulgarmouth! Doltus! That's ridiculous nonsense, boy! Ari: Do it, dumbitdown, or I will! Doltus: Silence, you twit! Doltus casts "Zippus Yerlippus" at Ari.

Oh good lord he's gone Super Saiyan!

Of course we also learn the author's other opinions about media. He doesn't just hate whimsical books about wizard school, nay, there's more on the chopping block!

Lord, guard mine eyes from the terrible powers of Friday the 13th II: The Return of Jason
Doltus's spell surges towards Ari in the form of another sinister imp. Ari: No. Ari blocks the imp effortlessly. It splats against his outstretched palm. Ari: See, Minnie?! Magic has no power over me, now that I'm a true believer! [2 Cor. 10:3-6] Christians have nothing to fear! Now, "Professor" - show her you're an imposter! [2 Timothy 3:13] Doltus Dumbitdown removes his wizard hat, fake beard, spectacles and fake nose to reveal the face of Dr. Bela Verbosi! Verbosi is a grey haired man who who looks a bit doltish and gap-toothed, nearly chinless. Verbosi: Okay, okay - don't be such a grouch! Minnie gasps in surprise! Verbosi: Yes, Minnie... I am Dr. Bela Verbosi, writer of the Hairy Polarity books. I created this world of wonders to bring joy to children of *all* ages! But, alas, new muses and spirits call me hither... and I long to move on to writing other forms of uplifting entertainment -- pornography, slasher films, reality-based TV series, etc., etc.. So... I conjured this elaborate ruse just to get you two talented youngsters to take over for me. I'm so sorry... it was an error in judgement... please excuse me...

Life’s meaning isn’t found in rising above the mess but in embracing it - the dirt, the worms, the rawness of being.

Growth (or reduction) comes not through perfection or certainty, but through connection, imperfection, and presence.

Although this is true a big percentage of the population does not own stocks. They live day-to-day. Grocery and rent prices matter way more to them than what the #NASDAQ is doing. Democrats need to focus on those people more. Find a way to get them the message across in a simple way. #DumbItDown
