Just learned that Mount Adams Transportation won the grant to start service between Dallesport and binge Monday through Friday, via Lyle. Expected to start service sometime in October.
Just learned that Mount Adams Transportation won the grant to start service between Dallesport and binge Monday through Friday, via Lyle. Expected to start service sometime in October.
I wrote to the mobility manager associated w/ the Gorge transit strategy to share this experience as a way of emphasizing that yes, transit b/t Bingen & Lyle & The Dalles should indeed be one of their highest priorities (as it is). Learned they are applying for a WSDOT grant to make that happen. 💯
Ah, memories.
If you want to know how unpleasant WA-14 is between the Syncline trailhead and Bingen, let’s just say I would ride the Hood Canal Bridge before I would try this again.

The most remarkable feature of Dallesport, however, are the acres of trashy-looking trailers sitting, unattended, with power and data cables as thick as a bodybuilders arm coming out of them.
They are mining bitcoin.

Looking east from Sevenmile Hill, Oregon. The Columbia River can be seen a bit to the right of the tallest hill on the right. Flowing in from the east, the Columbia cuts a sharp, southern arc as it rolls between Dallesport, Washington and The Dalles, Oregon.
