pretty sure this was the first time i met this cole porter classic. and the old 78-era danceband arrangement, where the first few choruses are instrumental before she comes in sounding like a cross between bob wills and an angel! she could do literally anything

The Kit-Kat Band Play ‘Hot’ Dance Music 1925-1927 (2016)

Very early British jazz from the resident band at the legendary Kit-Kat Club, featuring a young Ted Heath on trombone!

Real good time music!

A lot of Harry Chapin songs. I think “Danceband on the Titanic” has the highest body count, followed by “Sniper,” and then “The Rock” which has only 1 death at the end of the song but threatens more…

Today we're off to Mexico with the Eugen Wolff Orchestra from Berlin's Eden Hotel.
In 1936, he and Max Schipper performed at the Odeon recording studio. Warning! Live ammunition is used in Mexico! 😀

It won’t have any effect: he died in a car crash in his thirties, sadly. Some of his other songs are good. I still have an album of his,( which I somehow ended up with in the division of spoils…)which contains the song “ Danceband on the Titanic”.

I might give the rest a spin now. I'm curious!

(The Danceband on the Titanic reminds of a funny bit in a recent French movie The Second Act where someone complains that artists only tell themselves that story so that they sound brave.)
