Watching the #DataBill debate and I'm astounded by the lack of critical thinking about sex and gender data:

🔵 Sex and gender are complex and contested phenomena, just because the Equality Act understands sex as 'biological' doesn't mean ALL data systems need to capture 'biological sex' data.

The 'sex data' amendment is unlikely to succeed. But this amendment is representative of a wider, ongoing campaign to erase trans people from data systems.

Most notably, the Sullivan Review of Data, Statistics and Research on Sex and Gender.

📃 In the #DataBill, the Lords removed a reasonable excuse defence for creating intimate images without consent and added potential prison sentences for creating explicit deepfakes.

The government also made changes on intimate deepfakes following earlier proposals by Lords members.
