Unlikely a problem with Sugarcube (see image).

I didn't do any research, i just took the first format offered "ooh okay sure". This was supposed to be a two-week project, after all.

I should've chosen Sugarcube as it fits me better and I've been breaking Harlowe's guardrails more often than not.

I started wading through how the session state was stored and realised the inventory and event datamaps were not stored as I expected - i.e. as all the values serialised.

No, according to the Harlowe source code, it uses tricks to save on space. And when I read this I realised what was happening.

So to solve I can either duplicate the affected variables *OR* I can move some of these datamaps creation into a "passage before the first passage".

Duplication is a fast solution but feels less satisfying. Also leaves me exposed if there's a datamap I forgot...
