Good morning! I’m tweeting my #dayofscience today in support of @science_a_thon.

9 am: We hold “pollen clinics” twice a week, training my grad students to identify ancient pollen from mud cores. @KitHamley is working on a site in Alaska, reconstructing the landscapes of the first people in the Americas. This core goes back >30,000 years. #dayofscience

3:30 pm: Taking a break from manuscript edits to check email. I just got an assignment from a student who took an incomplete last spring. I can now give them a final grade, yay! It’s not glamorous, but a #dayofscience involves a lot of email, problem-solving, and logistics.

5:40 pm: We’re home! The first thing we do is take Neko for a walk. It’s a good time to decompress and talk about our day. Also, our German Shepherd/husky mix keeps us on a strict routine, regardless of rain or blizzards. #dayofscience
