The #BEASTLab proudly presents: #BeringTimeBridge! Over the next several years, as part of my #NSFunded research, we’ll be reconstructing the ice age ecology of Beringia, the land bridge that connects Siberia and Alaska when sea levels were lower during glacial intervals.

10 am: Applying for a USDA permit to import pressed plants we collected in Russia. We’ll use these as a reference to ID ancient pollen, plant fragments, and DNA from fossil dung, cores, and permafrost for our #NSFunded research. #BeringTimeBridge #dayofscience #BEASTLab

Chantal digitally hand-sculpted these pollen and spores from reference materials as part of our #NSFunded outreach work for the #BeringTimeBridge project. The printed grains will help with education, and the images will be used in a VR experience for middle schoolers.

It’s also #NSFunded; Dulcinea was funded by the @UMaine IGERT program on Adaptation to Abrupt Climate Change. And big thanks to the locals who collected leaves each month!
