Hey, I hadn't realized @decrimwa was around~! :D

I think this leaves more of Australia covered than not (SW-wise, in Bluesky). ^^

You are following our series about what is wrong with the WA SWer laws... this is perhaps one of the worst bad laws and most overused by police in the 25 years since it was introduced.

Without evidence, based on suspicion of engaging in engaging in street-based SW, police can 'Move On' to anyone.

Shirley Finn mayor may not have been a great boss or wonderful woman to work for. Nothing however excuses her murder.
Her relationships to powerful police, members of parliament, politicians & a Western Australian Premier was covered up during the inquiry into her murder.
SHAME.

Under decrim, s3x workers will have clearer access to mechanisms like the Fair Work Commission and WorkSafe WA.
In 1996 in the case "Phillipa v Carmel" a s3x worker sued her boss for unfair dismissal. This was one of the first cases in the world of a s3x worker getting compensation from a bad boss.

Happy International Wh0r3s Day 2026!

Right now there are laws in Western Australia that grant sex workers less rights than people working in other occupations.

QLD, NT, NSW and Vic have all amended their laws to remove this discrepancy.

Time for WA to do the same!
