Just one of my many Native American influenced art projects. It's made from a young stripped poplar tree, Bison hair, crow & turkey feathers, deerhide, Bison hair pipe beads, horse tail and a whole lot of tiny glass seed beads. The cow horn bugle, that my bother made and was his, hangs above it.

...in this case is an account from another native, Maungwudaus (photo), an Anishinaabe guy who toured around with Catlin and served as his interpreter, and who wrote much the same thing, though more politely.
Dauguerrotype of Maungwudaus, probably from 1844-45, done in England. He is wearing fairly elaborate regalia, including a feathered hat, a big necklace made of bear claws, a medallion given him by some European bigwig, and what looks like a white starched shirt under his deerhide coat. He is seated, turned slightly away from the camera, and has his right hand resting atop a long handled hatchet. The playbill for one of artist George Catlin's exhibitions in England, announcing the participation of the "Chippeway Indians", who will appear "in their own native costume" to "sing hymns in their own language,... translated by Maun-gwu-daus."
