Not surprising Christian atheists loudly proclaiming they studied other religions still think all work like Xianity bc that’s lit how comparative religion is taught in schools.
Come with me on a magical chart journey.

Inherent in reducing Judaism & Christianity to simply both equal "daughter" religions of the religion of 1st-century Judea is erasure of Jewish peoplehood: reducing Jewishness to merely religion is long-standing genocidal Christian strategy.

re: the idea that European Christians “appropriated” their own pre-Christian traditions by continuing to practice them after becoming Christian: If Bob has a bike, and changes his name to Tim, Tim did not steal Bob’s bike

I wish supposedly progressive Christians understood that very little about 1st-century, Roman-occupied Judaea maps directly to 21st-century America in politics/religion/economics/etc & attempts to equate them end up villainizing the victims.

if you're thinking of how to do some sort of Christian Rosh Hashanah thing: don't.
Not only is it appropriative, it's also theologically unsound! Your religion has a whole different system (Jesus) for dealing with repentance/renewal.

maybe we could talk abt the things we know religion often *provides* that lead to happiness & ask how we can provide those things to more people
e.g. community, social safety net, sense of purpose, ritual, celebration of life milestones, etc.

(Context was a reply to Chrissy Stroop's excellent piece, which I'll link, in which a guy was like "but religion is good, actually")
I'm going to talk about why deconstruction is important when leaving abusive environments

Ex-Christians:
What are some of the normative Christian worldviews/assumptions prevalent in society (even outside explicitly Christian spaces) that you've noticed since leaving Christianity?
