I think we can all agree it’s mainly the trousers.

#trousers #beatlemania #paulmccartney #vintagecomics #dellcomics #dellgiant
While a tailor strokes his chin thoughtfully, Paul McCartney examines his reflection. He’s concerned about the trousers. The caption: “EARNING FABULOUS FEES, PAUL CAN NOW INDULGE HIS ONE WEAKNESS -- HIS LOVE OF FINE CLOTHES! BUT HE HAS STRICT REQUIREMENTS! HIS SHIRT COLLARS MUST BE HIGH AND HIS TROUSER LEGS...” Paul says, “TIGHT! THEY'RE NOT TIGHT ENOUGH!”

Portrait of the drummer as a young man, from the Dell Giant 1964 Beatles comic

#ringostarr #vintagecomics #beatlemania #dellgiant #windowshopping
Comic book panel of a very young Ringo Starr gazing raptly through a shop window, at a display of assorted rings. The caption says “BORN JULY 7th, 1940 IN LIVERPOOL, HIS LOVE FOR RINGS GOES BACK TO CHILDHOOD! SON OF A POOR FAMILY, RINGO LIKED TO LOOK AT THE BRIGHT DISPLAYS IN A JEWELRY STORE WINDOW AND IMAGINE HE WAS RICH ENOUGH TO BUY ALL THE RINGS THERE...”

Further developments for John and Cynthia, according to the 1964 #dellgiant Beatles comic

#beatlescomic #vintagecomics #johnlennon #beatlemania #joesinnott
Three comic book panels. In the first, John Lennon and Cynthia Powell are married as a minister beams at them. She is in full bridal regalia. The caption: “SOON AFTER, JOHN AND CYNTHIA WERE WED...” Second panel shows Cynthia reading a cookbook and mixing ingredients in a bowl as Aunt Mimi gazes lovingly at her. The caption: “AT FIRST, THEY MOVED IN WITH JOHN'S AUNT MIMI! IT WAS A COMFORTABLE PLACE AND MEANT COMPANY FOR CYNTHIA, WHEN JOHN WAS OFF ON TOUR...” third panel shows Cynthia bottle feeding a baby as John look on with a grin: “IN 1963, CYNTHIS GAVE BIRTH TO A SON! IT’S TOO SOON TO TELL IF HE HAS INHERITED HIS FATHER’S MUSICAL TALENTS…” Cynthia says, “THE WAY HE WAILED FOR THIS BOTTLE, JOHN, HE COULD JOIN YOUR BEATLES NOW!”

More surprising biographical detail from the 1964 #dellgiant Beatles comic. I’m sure this is how it really went down on the Reeperbahn. 😂
#vintagecomics #joesinnott #beatlemania #Reeperbahn #beatlesinhamburg
Comic book panel shows young John Lennon with wind in his hair, gazing at silhouettes of two men and a woman. Caption reads: “WHILE ABROAD, JOHN WATCHED PAUL USE HIS GERMAN TO GET DATES FOR HIMSELF AND GEORGE! JOHN TURNED DOWN THE OFFER OF A DATE FOR HIMSELF...” John thinks, “I MUST BE BE IN LOVE --I MISS CYNTHIA SO MUCH WHEN WE'RE APART!”

More from the #dellgiant 1964 Beatles comic. An alternate history of the Nurk Twins. @marklewisohn.bsky.social sad to say I think you’ll have to revise this portion of Tune In 😂

#nurktwins #beatlemania #vintagecomics
Three comic book panels show: 1. John Lennon and Paul McCartney auditioning for a man in a suit 2. John and Paul on stage playing guitars for an enthusiastic crowd 3. John and Paul talking outside a stage door about how they need more guys in the band

These two panels from the 1964 Dell Beatles comic are a pretty good example of the wrong and right of the whole thing. The first one, with him whiling away the hours in his wood shop? Uhh

But the second one? TBH it seems incredibly correct on his view of the Beatles thing 😂
#beatlemania #dellgiant
Two comic book panels. First one shows George Harrison making a guitar in a workshop. The second shows him relaxing by a fireplace and reacting unhappily to seeing the Beatles on tv Text reads “HIS AMBITION - - TO DESIGN A FINE GUITAR THAT WILL BEAR THE NAME- " THE HARRISON GUITAR ".. AFTER AN EXHAUSTING DAY OF REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES, GEORGE LOVES TO PUT ON HIS SLIPPERS, SIT BY A BIG FIRE AND WATCH TELEVISION... “OUR NEXT NEWS ITEM IS A FILM CLIP OF THE BEATLES' HOMECOMING - -“ OH NOT THEM!”

Weird biographical stuff for Paul. Kind of surreal. It’s like the makers had never heard of a left handed person before

My brother just gave me a wonderful gift, the 1964 Beatles comic from Dell! Always wanted a copy. The bio inside is a mixed bag, some of it correct, some a little off, and some just bizarre. It’s a fun book!

#beatles #beatlesmemorabilia #beatlescomic #dellgiant #beatlemania #vintagecomics
Vintage magazine cover shows the four Beatles in suits and motto haircuts against a yellow background. It reads “Dell Giant 35¢ / The Beatles / Complete life stories, 8 pin-up pictures, color photos, George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr Drawing of Ringo shaking his motto hair and smiling. Copy reads “HIS FAMOUS BEATLE HAIRCUT IS NEVER COMBED INTO PLACE! WHEN RINGO IS READY TO GO OUT AND HAS TO FIX HIS HAIR, HE MERELY SHAKES IT INTO PLACE-- VIGOROUSLY!”

Dell Giant #39 - Walt Disney's Merry Christmas (Dec 1960). Rough layouts by Carl Barks and painting by Norm McGary. The cover shows Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck sitting on a couch next to the fireplace. The boys are grumpy as they stare at the stockings hanging on the fireplace. They have normal-sized stockings while Donald Duck's stocking is huge and stretches all the way under the couch.
