European policymakers, Church leaders, and representatives of Syria’s Christian communities called for a new constitutional and political framework based on equal citizenship, religious freedom, and meaningful political participation at a conference at the European Parliament in Brussels on 8 September. Speakers, including representatives from the Syriac Union Party (SUP), Assyrian Democratic Party (ADP), and Levantine National Council (LNC), stressed that protecting Christians should go beyond physical security or symbolic representation and include legal protections, property rights, accountability for abuses, political inclusion, and safe return for displaced communities.
