Our crack team are hard at work opening up test pits today as part of the Dig The Castle project! We are digging in the back gardens of some very kind members of the local community, so they can see archaeology in action close up.

A local resident found this piece of beauty while digging his vegetable patch on Castle Street, a small metal stick concealer “erace” by the brand Max Factor, dated to 1954.

1/2 One way DIGtheCASTLE enriched the community output of our excavation project was collaborations with other groups and orgs in the area. E.g. the digital recording of our trenches with the students and staff of Petroc College, in Barnstaple.
