Next, I convert the pencil sketch into a digital image, but the Famicom’s BG data bank is limited to 128×128 pixels. When scanned with the digitizers available at the time, this is the best resolution achievable.

Today, I closed the loop on an archival mystery I've been chasing for three months.

Amiga friends settle this for me, back in the day during the peak Psygnosis Amiga years, I swear I remember a quote somewhere that Psygnosis never used digitizers, and all art was hand drawn. Anyone able to corroborate this? Links would be great too!

In a perfect tech world, all smartphones would have detachable/ slide out buttons for gaming/ productivity shortcuts, digitizers for advanced pens, antennas for radio & over-the-air TV, & accept optional physical media (games/ movies with DVD style menus, etc) in a micro SD card-style format

i actually had a thinkpad tablet in ~2012 but i've been missing it for a decade... they don't make real laptops with wacom digitizers anymore and i'm so sad about it

It's just a bunch of people who are passionate abt saving music and trying to get 80+ yo discs to sound as good as possible. There's no governing body, there's no magic book that has all the info, it's a loose net connecting hundreds of digitizers and their empirically gained knowledge.

im laughing so much at my fried iPad Pro, it should be studied, since the incident its been behaving so weird, i've erased all my content and i use it as a photo display only cause the screen digitizers are often acting weird, and my battery last 1 hour max wether the screen is ON or OFF

I’ve always assumed the gloves used by digitizers are to protect THEM, not the books—spending all day, every day just flipping, flipping, flipping = dryness, chafing, papercuts.

We had some Nimbuses and some weird old workstations in the Design Tech classroom for CAD - they at least had cool digitizers and a massive plotter attached. Autocad was very hard for an 11yp to pick up!

these glass digitizers feel nice but they are SO pissy. if this doesn’t work im probably better off just buying a plastic one

Even as a Linux desktop user on a gaming laptop (bone stock Debian) I'm agreeing you are absolutely 100% right.
About the only real use-case is to turn old WinXP-era touch-screen tablet PCs (especially ones with Wacom digitizers) into good drawing tablets.

And of course, I fully expect that the same legal restrictions would prevent these digitizers from actually publishing the resulting digital archives anywhere. Making these never-before-digitized books available to the public *could* have been a net good for our species. Alas.
