#Digitrax
The digitrax zephyr not having a recall feature automatically knocks it down a peg. What do you mean neither the JUMP nor SWITCH keys actually do anything like that?????? I got sausage fingers so I'm not that quick with the keypad

We all know the NCE powercab is the best DCC system, of course

I have one painted for BNSF. It came in a Walthers train set (Trainline) with a custom Digitrax DCC controller built for Walthers, and a wide body GP9 of Cox heritage.
Caboose looks like it sits too high on the trucks.

That’s exactly why it’s good, because it’s *not* trying to be a obnoxious flashy tech product. That’s why modern Digitrax sucks, and most euro systems look equally techified and over engineered. I don’t want to use my phone in fact to run model trains

I can understand wanting to ditch Digitrax, but replacing it with NCE doesn't sound like the most future proof choice to me.

Back again working on my Canadian client David’s layout this weekend. Today I installed the NCE DCC system (good riddance Digitrax), ballasted more track, programmed the turntable, played trains just a little and did a bunch of other odd jobs.

Some big stuff to come tomorrow…

Great news: JMRI is free and you can just download it from their website

Heartbreaking: the thing that makes the computer talk to the decoder is like 75 bucks and IS ONLY MADE BY DIGITRAX

I CAN'T WIN

I think once I get an NCE powercab I'll make a long ass video where I bitch about the digitrax zephyr because it's been like 8 months since it started refusing to program things and I'm so fucking fed up with it

Guy on a model train forum is asking for advice because his 80 year old dad finds the Digitrax Zephyr interface daunting, and you'd be surprised at the number of people who seem to think the solution is handing him a smartphone (you would probably not be surprised, honestly)

I've been wanting to build a throttle of my own, based on the Digitrax utility throttle, but Wi-Fi capable. I like big knob on the utility throttle, but I run DCC-EX at home, so it doesn't do me any good there.

Don't say that... nearly all my DCC stuff is Digitrax. 😭
April 30, 2025 at 2:02 AM
I don't want to attempt to remove it until I get a read on what exactly it is but I have a feeling it might be interfering with something on the Digitrax board.

Likely going to seek a TCS decoder since I noticed better slow speed performance over the Digitrax in my EF65. But still completely terrified to do any soldering etc.

Oops.
March 14, 2025 at 11:51 PM
EF65 and EF210 seem like they’d be easy enough to get drop in boards for, TCS makes a decoder intended for the EF210 and it sounds like Digitrax has a good match for the EF65.

$40m acquisitions of music startups are still pretty rare, and this one is of a company that we haven’t covered before.  DigiTrax is the startup in question, founded in 2017 with business lines ranging from recording studios and pro music services, through a catalogue of soundalike sound recordings, karaoke and an AI-music subsidiary with seven patents. The latter seems to have been the main appeal to

... This makes me scared because some of my locomotives have digitrax decoders in them

reading Rod Stewart's Wiki article to see what they said about his model train hobby - he calls it an "addictive" hobby (it is) and some editor followed it up with WELL WHAT ABOUT COCAINE.

Digitrax command stations use a series of "beeps" to indicate an issue is present. Here is a handy list of what they mean.

It may not kill Digitrax but it certainly could hurt them. Or NCE.

There are small companies supplying DCC devices which could be wiped out. Manufacturing the devices in China is their only option, what happens to them?

Sir Rod Stewart has a massive HO scale #modelrailway.

It is controlled using Digital Command Control (DCC). It is said that he selected Digitrax as his DCC system.

Recent upgraded Digitrax Command stations (DCS52/DCS210+/DCS240+) can experience lock-ups when using the USB port. Solution: Disconnect USB and power to reboot the device. A firmware update may also solve this issue.

Which DCC system did you buy?

If you have Digitrax: They have two states for track power. Standby and Run. In standby lights and sound come on, but nothing happens until you press the power button for a second time to enter run mode.

Many wonder why #Digitrax limited their Extended Address range to a maximum of 9983. The answer: Aliasing, a legacy feature which is no longer in use.
Pls repost, share the knowledge.

A look at the Digitrax Evolution Xpress 5/8A DCC system for #modeltrains. Note: The 'scale switch' sets track voltage, not the current.
