Kicked off my new #disasterhist #envhist class with great discussion (in spite of a large audience!) of Isabelle Stengers’ chapter on ‘The Intrusion of Gaia’ & @USofDisaster ´Learning from Disaster?´ Very excited to continue the conversation w/ my students in the coming weeks!

Week 2 of #disasterhist #envhist course is over. Today: 1755 Lisbon disaster, Voltaire, Rousseau & Kant and (re)ordering worlds. Plus Bankoff’s paper on vulnerability and time. I possibly never enjoyed so much teaching in a format which was not a seminar...good for the spirit!
