This clean energy generation avoided substantial wholesale electricity market costs and ensured continued power supply for consumers. ISO New England reported electricity demand reached levels not seen since 2013, nearing a record set in 2006. During the heat wave, private solar arrays across the region mitigated demand by approximately 2 gigawatts, a power output comparable to that of a nuclear power plant.
