#Dolebury
What a lovely day for a naturist walk. Local this time, around Burrington Coombe and Dolebury Camp. Covered up once for school girls probably DoEing but otherwise 6 miles clothes free.

Views across the Levels and the Severn to Wales from Dolebury Hillfort, a large Iron Age multivallate enclosure on the edge of the Mendip Hills. Impressive limestone ramparts and many Clouded Yellow butterflies last week

#HillfortsWednesday & the vast Dolebury Warren in Somerset, not the greatest access ever & spent close to an hour trying to find somewhere, *anywhere* to park, to no avail

Different hillfort, different season, same sentiment

The ramparts at Dolebury Warren hillfort, part of a beautiful walk in the Mendip Hills with incredibly varied landscapes. The views are across the Chew Valley to the Bristol Channel. Some of the huge rubble walls are exposed by weathering. #HillfortsWednesday #IronAge

Just sneaking this into #HillfortsWednesday - on Sunday our walk took in Dolebury Warren Hillfort on the Mendips, a hugely impressive monument:

Ah Dolebury Warren is a great warren, though I've only made it there once. Tbh it seems like pretty much any bit of land could've been used as a warren, so why not hillforts too. They're literally everywhere! Which is good if you're gonna study them I suppose.

Guess also if you take somewhere like here or Dolebury, the overlap with crops or general use for other livestock is reasonably low plus ‘natural’ boundaries, why not Rabbits?

Live not a million miles from Dolebury warren, clue in the name I guess. Just never really noticed the pattern and always a notion you might be putting 2+2 and coming up with 5 😊

A great blowy walk up Rowberrow Warren, around the Iron Age Dolebury Fort with spectacular far reaching views to the estuary, over to Black Down and back to the very welcoming Swan Inn in Rowberry. No matter the weather there are some great pieces of countryside to enjoy and it’s great getting out

It's my local hillfort, and beautiful. When my girls were in primary at Churchill, my embroidered silk square for the school patchwork quilt was an accurate representation of Dolebury with embroidered flowers and butterflies from the area.
