This night, the Boeing 747-E4B "Nightwatch", commonly known as the "Doomsday Plane", was scrambled from Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana, and flown to Joint Base Andrews, U.S. Naval Aviation in Camp Springs, Maryland, 15 miles south of downtown Washington.
