Good morning! Visit the Dosewallips region along Hood Canal or would like to? Pls complete the survey to ask for much more transit access and safe bike/walk/roll connections. More secure trailhead bike storage, ebike charging would be great, too.

"The flow of the river is ceaseless, and yet the water is never the same." Kamo no Chōmei, in Hōjōki, 1212 (during the early Kamakura period- the rising Samurai era).

Here on the Dosewallips, autumn light bows to the passing water.
Enjoy your weekend, everyone 🥰

Took a real vacation and did no work for 5 full consecutive days, plus a number of other days as well. Saw friends and family, and spent Sunday - Wednesday backpacking on the Olympic peninsula. A few pics from that:

Tell us how you enjoy the North Hood Canal area to help shape its future 🌲

The North Hood Canal has many fun campgrounds and trails, including the Duckabush and Dosewallips rivers.

But recreation infrastructure has become less accessible due to environmental causes and maintenance needs.

Commissioner highlights an anecdote where she met a guy with a backpack taking public transit to get to Dosewallips (on the Seattle -> Kingston)

[ seemed surprise, but *we* know there are transit based trekkers, right @transittrekker.bsky.social ]

Somewhere between Deer Park and Dosewallips Trailhead in #pnw there is a backpack resting against some rocks. In the background are various mountains and blue skies with pillowy white clouds. There's also a small lake nestled in the center of the photo.

We grew up camping every year at Dosewallips Campground, then took our kids every year, and now they take my grandkids. Hood Canal is just about my favorite place on earth.

Puyallup (pyoo-all-up) is where we have our state fair

Sequim (squim) is the town before Port Angeles

Kalaloch (I fucked it up myself, but it's clay-lock) is out by Forks

Dosewallips is a small town on the Way to Port Angeles

And humptulips is a blip on the map just past Montesano
