A close-up grayscale image of a double-ringed impact basin on Mercury, captured by the MESSENGER spacecraft. The inner floor of the basin is unusually smooth compared to the rough terrain surrounding it, prompting speculation about its formation—possibly through volcanic activity or impact melt. The image shows the basin's intricate details, with smaller craters scattered across its surface and the surrounding landscape.
