the Sternberg Museum in Hays will be closing later this year, joining the Drexel in being killed by lack of funding. museums are fascinating spaces and it's a loss for everyone when they go. just a big sad thing, to lose these institutions.

Moreover, with the loss of #Sternberg and #ANSP... both #FHSU and #Drexel cited "difficult choices" and "budget cuts". So, if money could be raised to sustain either, would the admins even consider it? My cynical take is "no" they've been waiting to do this and finally got the chance.

Drexel not taking the William Penn foundation offer, coupled with the building not having historic status has my brain turning to conspiracy theories.

If that’s the case, why was I paying $10,000 a year back in the 70s to go to Drexel University? I came out to California and I went to the university of California and I had to pay 1500 a year to go there & it was worth every penny.

We have created a system that people seek power but cannot (or will not ) be held accountable.
I can't decide who Drexel chooses for leadership. But I do have a say who leads my city, my state, and my country.
We need to create a culture of accountability.

The press coverage of the Academy of Natural Sciences has gone from "Oh how sad" to sounding like a hostage negotiation. Which maybe sounds bad, but elected leaders, the press, the people online, all saying "You don't have to do this, man" is better than mourning.
